Chapter Thirteen

Author's Note: This chapter will pick up from Chapter Ten when the girls heard a door open up. At the moment, Alexis was crying to see her best friend in the hospital. Taylor was doing her best to console her but Alexis just kept crying. Maureen was pacing back and forward. That's when she received a phone call. It was Bryce. After getting off the phone with him, she immediately told the girls. Just as she was telling them, the doctor came out with some news.

Jacelyn Cortes Family. That's when Janelle and Jay came rushing in. "We here. Right here." Janelle said. Jay was behind her. Alexis looked up when she heard voices. "OMG Ms. Cortes, I can explain...." Alexis sobbed. Janelle waved her off. "Right now, let's worry about my baby girl." They walked in the room, leaving Taylor and Maureen in lobby.

That's when Jay walked up to them. "Where's Jadien? Where's Jacques?" Jay asked nervously. They looked at one another. They were speechless. "Ummm.... he's....

Right when they were stalking, he walked in. "Here." Jadien couldn't stand looking at Jay. "Why you worrying? You wasn't worrying about us when we needed a father figure around. When Jacelyn stayed up crying, hoping her daddy would come back like he told her. When Ja'Quan got shot, trying to make money just to help momma out. Don't come up here asking where I am unless you actually care." Jadien snapped. Jay hated when he mentioned Ja'Quan name.

"Look here Jadien! I tried to warn that boy about quitting the game because I was quitting myself. He was just to hard headed to listen to me. I did my best trying to protect that boy. I truly did. Maan he was my first child. I wasn't going to let anything happen to him. He decided to go out on his own and some dudes drove by and shot him. I know its my fault that you lost your brother. Its my fault that Jacelyn can't trust another n****. Its my fault for this whole convenient. I shouldn't have left your mother. I made a huge mistake. Now I seen it had a bad affect on my family. Son, I'm sorry I wasn't the best father but I'm trying. I'm out the game. I came back to your mama. Kendra agreed to let me keep you kids but please just don't bring up Ja'Quan name. Bad enough, my baby girl in the hospital. If something happen to her, I'll never forgive myself. I still don't forgive myself from my first born son. You're all I could possibly have left." Jay said. Taylor realized Jadien was crying. She went up and rubbed his back. Forgive him Jadien. For God sake he's trying. Plus he's right. If something happen to Jacelyn, its just you. I know you don't want to but you can't hold that against you when you already held it in for so long. Forgive him Jadien. Taylor whispered in his ear. Jay pulled his son in for a hug. They both cried together.

Janelle walked out of the room. Her head was down. That's when Maureen walked over to her. "Ms. Cortes what's wrong?" Janelle broke down in tears. "Jacelyn in coma." Maureen and Taylor were shocked. They hurried in the room. Alexis was hanging over the bed, crying. Maureen tears begin to fall. So was Taylor's.
