After Takeshi and Miranda left for their honeymoon, all was well for three days. And then it wasn't. Currently, (Y/N) was in the living room flicking through the channels looking for something to watch, the moon shining brightly through the window opposite her whilst the stars twinkled beside it. Jay sat beside her, and while she was still a bit uncomfortable around him after the incident with Davan and Olivia, she tried to push it past her.

Her hand stilled.

With furrowed brows, she sat up straighter as she turned the volume up to the TV, not able to believe what she was seeing.

"Tragedy has struck this suburban neighborhood this evening when two high school students who attend Maison De La Prospérité were found dead inside their home by their parents," the grim news reporter announced as he shuffled through several pieces of paper in his hands. "The police have already released an official statement that rules this case as a homicide considering the brutal conditions the two were found in. Possible suspects are already..."

(Y/N) pressed her hand to her mouth.

For on the screen in front of her were the smiling pictures of Olivia and Davan.

    She almost couldn't believe it.

    But it was true.

"It seems that they won't bother you again, will they?" Jay spoke from beside her, his eyes glued to the screen that cast a sickly shadow across his face that (Y/N) swallowed at.

She flinched when he turned towards her.

A malevolent grin twisted on his lips.

"I'm... a little bit hungry, so I'm going to the kitchen to get a snack," she muttered out quickly before he could speak again, quickly standing up and sweeping out of the room as if she had never even been there in the first place.

    She leaned against the counter.

    That...

    He...

No matter how I look at it, he wouldn't go so far as to actually kill someone, right?

    But, he looked...

By that time, knowing that she should just trust her gut, she reached into her pocket for her phone only to whirl around when something clattered on the floor behind her. Mikael stood in front of the fridge with an ice cream carton in hand, looking more like a deer caught in headlights from how shocked he seemed to see her.

"Ah... would you mind making me a bowl, too?" (Y/N) asked weakly, feeling like she needed some sugar right about then.

"Yeah..." he nodded his head as he set to work, glancing up at her from time to time. "Are you okay? You don't look so good..."

    "Olivia and Davan are dead."

    "...what?"

"They were found dead inside their home by their parents..." she continued, feeling a bit numb after the entire confrontation she had with Jay. "Apparently, police ruled it as a homicide, so someone killed them."

    Mikael frowned.

He wasn't a monster, however he felt nothing at her words.

    He didn't care.

He didn't care about a lot of people.

"They tried to hurt you, (Y/N), so... why do you look so guilty?" He questioned as he handed her her ice cream, watching as she mutely accepted it and took a bite. "You didn't kill them, so why feel so bad? After what they tried to do to you, you shouldn't need to tear yourself up about this. While there's sympathy involved... I hate how something so trivial is making you feel this way."

    (Y/N) stared at him.

And then he did the unexpected.

Pulling her into an embrace, her head lightly tapping against his chest which allowed her to hear how fast his heart was beating, Mikael inhaled deeply. She smelled nice, having had a shower earlier, and was soft. She fit so easily into his arms that he felt as if it should be the only place where she should be. Memorizing every detail, he eventually and reluctantly released her.

"It'll be okay," he reassured her whilst keeping his grip on her arms.

"Right..." she gave him a strained smile as she picked up her ice cream and back away. "Thank you... Mikael."

Walking up the stairs towards her room and gently closing the door behind her, she then slowly slid down the wall and collapsed onto the floor. Something was drastically wrong with her stepbrothers, and she couldn't deny it anymore. Picking up the phone, she dialed Eun-ji, waiting impatiently and pacing in circles waiting for the girl to pick up.

    "Hello?"

"Eun-ji, can I stay over at your place?"

"Huh? Yeah. Why?" She questioned with a worried tone to her voice. "Did something happen? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine... I just need this."

"Of course. Give me ten minutes; I'll be over there soon."

"Alright, thanks," (Y/N) sighed as she clicked off her phone and stood still in the middle of her room for a moment, merely staring blankly down at the floor as her mind whirred.

Something isn't right.

And I can't stay here until it's fixed.

Shaking herself from her thoughts, the girl quickly started to pack her bag with all of her necessities that she would need for several days. And as she did so, she didn't notice the tiny glint of a screen that faced her way, the camera hidden in her room giving Mikael any and all access to all the different sides to her. Unfortunately, he was seeing a side of her that he was beginning to loathe.

"This isn't right... This isn't right... This isn't right..." he muttered lowly as he chewed on his nail, hundreds of pictures of (Y/N) littering the walls around him only illuminated by the screen of his computer.

Why is she trying to leave us?

To leave me?

Haven't I done everything right?

I've listened to her, given her whatever she's asked for, and wanted nothing.

So, why?

Why does she keep thinking she can escape?

Why does she keep thinking she can escape?
