"Yes, sir. It's him. No doubt about it. He's exactly as you described him: vibrant green eyes, sapphire fur, smile full of light. He's quite pretty rather."
An icy voice hummed into the safety of secluded darkness. A rumbling 'pat, pat, pat, pat' popped off the walls, an afterthought of conversation bred by a hidden figure drumming his fingers against granite. The corners of unknown lips curled with restless mirth. An eagerness to move in on an uncompleted instruction tickled the back of temptation. He wouldn't dare, squashing that urge immediately. He would not alter his leader's meticulous plans.

"Hmhmh, that I am very well aware of. One of the reasons I am working so hard to get him back. His crying face is most pleasing indeed. Now, what are the symptoms? There are bound to be changes, everything must be documented."
The static induced tone poured from the device clipped comfortably to the ring of an ear. Glistening fur illuminated by a beeping red. Adjusting his posture slightly out of habit upon receiving the new order, the being rolled over the information he had stored in his memory. Selecting the snippets relevant to the question, lips parted to offer an answer,

"Of course. I kept a close watch on him throughout the day. He demonstrated much tiredness, often falling asleep or staring off into space. It was as if he wasn't really present. It's clear his energy reserves are diminishing."
The mysterious presence thought back to earlier that week, recalling the exhaustion he had seen radiating off the hedgehog. It almost made him drowsy just thinking about it. The blue creature hid it well with a bright smile but there was no disguise for the sunken, hollow eyes. It would be so easy to take him, he couldn't fight back.

"As expected, he was always exhausted after taking my serum. Poor thing. To think they changed the formula right under my nose so it would be easier to manipulate him even when he was calm. I'm repulsed I actually worked alongside such filth. How is his DCE? If he's still taking that serum then it should still be buried."
There was no mistaking the fury that flooded through his leader's voice. Although he was never present when Sonic was with the man on the phone, he too growled at the offenses done against his leader's work. He'd only ever heard little pieces about what happened. In reality, he was completely in the dark.

He'd been working for his leader for years, completing any tasks assigned to him without question. He owed everything to the mobian, his life having been saved by him. He'd never been informed of his leader's doings, he never cared for it. He did care that something went very wrong all those months ago, something that caused the mobian to go into hiding. No one knew where he was. He was presumed dead in the blast so no one searched for his ghost.

It was 2 months after his leader's disappearance when he made contact. Of course he wasn't dead, the man planned for every little occurrence. He'd never die from a simple explosion, not this mobian. From there, it was one odd request after the next. Although strange, the man's words were carried out immediately. However, a few weeks ago he received a bulky file along with the first call from his missing boss. That conversation had concerned him greatly. The man had never been so urgent, so serious before. Sworn to secrecy, his next task was assigned. One he couldn't fail.
