In the dimly lit conference room of the Spy Headquarters, Mr. Ren, the formidable head of operations, stood before a group of seventeen elite agents. Her voice was steady, but her words carried a weight that none could ignore.
"Team," she began, her gaze sweeping across the room, "tomorrow's mission is unlike any we've faced before. It's my first time sending a group this size, and I won't sugarcoat it-it's dangerous. There's a chance not all of us will return."
Silence hung heavy in the air as the agents exchanged uncertain glances. Mr. Ren continued, her tone unwavering. "Tonight, you have the freedom to do as you please within these walls, but not outside. Zeo," she nodded towards a seasoned agent in the front row, "has graciously offered to host a gathering for us. A chance to bolster our spirits before we depart."
Zeo, known for her calm demeanor under pressure, smiled faintly as murmurs of surprise and apprehension rippled through the room. A party amidst such uncertainty was a rare gift-a moment to savor camaraderie and steel themselves for the challenges ahead.
As agents filed out of the room, their expressions conflicted between forced smiles and unshed tears. Tomorrow loomed large, but tonight, they would find solace in each other's company, preparing both mentally and emotionally for the perilous mission ahead.
The pulsating rhythm of music filled the air as Joseph, Sindy, and Julie navigated through the lively party. They soon found themselves amidst swirling dancers and vibrant conversations. Spotting Hiroto and Anabella in a corner, they joined them, exchanging smiles and small talk.
"Have you seen Zeo?" Joseph asked casually, scanning the room.
Hiroto nodded towards the alcohol section. "She's over there, looking amazing but a bit... tipsy."
Curiosity piqued, Joseph and his friends made their way through the crowd. They found Zeo chatting animatedly with a group, a glass in hand. When she spotted Joseph, her face lit up, and she playfully pulled him into a hug, sharing the drink with him.
Sindy and Julie exchanged knowing glances and quietly slipped away, joining a quieter group to give Joseph and Zeo some privacy. However, their moment was interrupted abruptly when Dr. Michael, Joseph's elder sister, appeared out of nowhere. With a sharp slap across his cheek, she scolded him sternly for drinking.
Meanwhile, noticing Zeo's state, Dr. Michael turned to her next, pulling her ear gently. Zeo winced, attempting to hide her face from Dr. Michael's disapproving gaze.
In the midst of the music and disco lights, Zeo suddenly broke free from Dr. Michael's grasp and staggered towards the stage. With wild abandon, she began dancing, drawing all eyes upon her as she became the center of attention.
As the party continued, guards discreetly informed Sindy that Mr. Ren was on his way. Concerned for their friends, Sindy acted quickly. With a decisive slap across Joseph's face, she rendered him momentarily unconscious due to the alcohol's effect.
Upon regaining consciousness, Joseph's gaze shifted to the stage, where Zeo continued her uninhibited dance. Confused and concerned, he turned to Sindy. "What's Zeo doing up there?"
Before Sindy could respond, Mr. Ren arrived, his presence commanding attention. He observed Zeo's performance with a hint of amusement, though his expression remained inscrutable as always.
"Sindy," Mr. Ren spoke calmly, "what's happening here?"
Sindy stepped forward, choosing her words carefully. "Sir, Zeo wasn't feeling well, so Joseph went up there to bring her down safely."
Joseph, now more composed, joined Sindy's explanation. "Yes, sir. I wanted to make sure Zeo was okay."
Mr. Ren nodded thoughtfully. "Were you drinking, Joseph?"
