Kiara glanced at the clock nervously. Derek was supposed to pick her up any moment now. It was their first real date, away from the bustling campus and prying eyes of their friends. She smoothed down her dress and took a deep breath, her heart racing in anticipation.
A soft knock on the door snapped her out of her thoughts. She opened it to find Derek, looking effortlessly handsome in a casual shirt and jeans, his usual confident smile on his face.
"Ready to go?" he asked, extending his hand.
Kiara nodded, taking his hand and feeling a rush of excitement. They made their way out of the hostel, careful to avoid any unwanted attention. The night was perfect, the campus quiet, and the stars twinkling above.
They walked to a nearby park, under a tree where Derek had set up a small picnic. Kiara's eyes lit up at the sight of the spread—candles, a blanket and many pillows, and a basket full of her favorite snacks , lightings
"This is beautiful, Derek," she said, touched by the effort he had put in.
Derek smiled, sitting down beside her. "Only the best for you."
As they enjoyed their picnic, talking and laughing, a shadow loomed over them. They looked up to see Raggie, a smug grin on his face.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Derek on a date?" Raggie mocked.
Derek's jaw clenched, but he kept his cool. "What's it to you, Raggie?"
Raggie shrugged. "Just didn’t expect you to be so romantic. Guess even the great Derek has a soft side."
Kiara could see Derek's frustration building. She squeezed his hand, trying to calm him down.
"Raggie, we're just trying to enjoy our evening. Can you please leave us alone?" she asked, her tone polite but firm.
Raggie laughed. "Alright, alright. Don’t want to ruin your little love fest. See you around, lovebirds."
As Raggie walked away, Derek let out a frustrated sigh. "That guy really knows how to get under my skin."
Kiara smiled, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Don’t let him bother you. We’re here together, that’s all that matters."
Just as they were about to resume their date, they heard a rustling in the bushes. Derek turned to see Anni, Sexa, Acid, and Mummy peeking out, trying—and failing—to be discreet.
"Derek! We need your help!" Anni called out, stumbling forward.
Derek groaned, standing up. "Seriously, guys? Now?"
Sexa grinned sheepishly. "We didn’t mean to interrupt, but we wanted to see if you two were having a romantic moment."
Derek raised an eyebrow. "What’s this all about?"
Mummy tried to keep a straight face. "We were just curious. Thought we’d check in on you."
Kiara’s eyes widened as she tried to stifle a laugh. Derek looked at the group, clearly annoyed.
"So, you guys decided to sneak up on us to see if we’re being romantic?" Derek asked, incredulous.
Sexa nodded, unable to hide his grin. "Yep. Just wanted to see how you’d handle it if we showed up unexpectedly."
Acid added, “We were hoping for a bit of drama. You know, the usual interruptions.”
Derek sighed in frustration, though he couldn’t help but find the situation absurdly funny. "Alright, since you’re already here, what do you need?"
Anni fidgeted, looking sheepish. "Well, we were just kind of hoping to see how things were going. And maybe offer some… unsolicited advice."
Kiara chuckled, shaking her head. "You guys are unbelievable."
Derek rolled his eyes but then gave them a wry smile. “Alright, but make it quick. We’re trying to enjoy a quiet evening.”
As the boys gathered around, they started making exaggerated comments and jokes about Derek’s “romantic skills” and “date night strategy,” turning the situation into a comedy of errors. They acted out their own versions of romantic gestures, complete with over-the-top acting and fake tears.
Kiara was in stitches from laughing so hard, and even Derek found himself chuckling despite his annoyance. The boys’ antics included mock serenades, fake romantic arguments, and hilarious attempts at creating “romantic” moments that were more comedic than heartfelt.
When the boys finally decided they had had enough fun, Sexa said, “Alright, alright. We’ll leave you two alone. But remember, if you need more practice, you know where to find us!”
Derek and Kiara waved them off, still laughing. “Thanks for the ‘help,’” Derek said with a smirk.
As the boys walked away, Derek sat down beside Kiara, wrapping his arm around her. “Well, that was an unexpected twist.”
Kiara leaned in, her heart full. “Definitely. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
They settled back on the blanket, enjoying the rest of their picnic under the stars. Despite the comical interruptions, they found themselves closer than ever, sharing stories, dreams, and tender moments.
Derek gazed into Kiara’s eyes, his voice low and sincere. “I know tonight didn’t go as planned, but I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Kiara smiled warmly. “Neither would I.”
With the stars as their backdrop, Derek and Kiara shared a quiet, romantic moment, their connection deepened by the laughter and chaos of the evening. Despite the funny drama, their night ended on a perfect, heartfelt note, proving that even amidst the interruptions, their bond was stronger than ever.
