Kiara, Derek, and their children were eating and laughing at the dining table. Suddenly, Derek's phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw it was an unknown number. Answering it, his expression quickly turned serious. Kiara noticed the change and walked over to him, waiting for the call to end.
When Derek hung up, Kiara asked, "Who was it?"
"It was Anni," Derek replied. Kiara smiled, but her happiness quickly faded as Derek continued, "Anni's son, Raghav, tried to commit suicide by jumping from his balcony. He failed his JEE exams and called himself a loser. Anni is telling him the story of our college life and has asked us to come to the hospital."
The next day, Kiara and Derek went to the hospital. Kiara's POV:
As soon as I entered the ICU room, I heard familiar voices:
"Abe takle, mota kisko bol raha hai?"
"Abe mote, apne baap ko takla bol raha hai tu!"I saw everyone, older now, gathered around. I went to Maya and hugged her, saying, "Old woman!" She laughed and said, "You too."
I saw the boys and hugged them, saying, "Tum sabke baal kaha gye?"
Sexa joked, "Aisa toh humme bhi puchna chaiye tujhe, tere pati ke baal kaha gye?"I clicked my tongue and went to see Raghav. My heart sank seeing him there; I couldn't even imagine my son in his place. We told him more of our story, leaving the climax part for tomorrow.
Later, we went to Anni and Maya's house. Maya and I sat together, and she started talking about her and Anni's divorce. I looked at her and said, "Pagal ho tum dono jo ek doosre ko chodh diya."
Maya nodded, saying, "Mei hu." She sighed and continued, "Things just got too complicated, Kiara. We stopped understanding each other. The spark we had in college just faded away with time."
I shook my head in disbelief. "You both were so perfect together. I still remember how you used to handle Anni's craziness and how he always supported your dreams."
Maya smiled wistfully. "Life happens, you know? Priorities changed, and we drifted apart. But we still care about each other. That's why we're both here for Raghav."
I reached out and held her hand. "It's never too late to find that connection again, Maya. Maybe this is a chance for you both to rediscover what you had."
Maya looked at me with teary eyes and nodded. "Maybe you're right, Kiara. Maybe there's still hope."
