🔥 Flickering Light

It once burned bright,
More radiant than the sun's light.
A friendship so strong, a beautiful insight.
It was a glorious delight.

Your heart was laid bare like a newborn without faults.
I came to love your nature and person, although it brought its dreadful cost.
But what fatal risk isn't worth taking from the dust,
When all points to my comforting presence in your isolated hut?

Royalty, maybe, implied your name.
I never knew what hurts awaited, sings your fame.
When it dawned, I may have been a pawn in your game.
I truly have no one else to blame.

Now the storm of silence and distance surrounds our flame.
I stand in its gale without shame.
And when time washes all that has been named,
The flickering light of our ephemeral time will be finally tamed.

Alas, amigo! Say no goodbyes,
Because leaving for my solo adventure, in itself, is goodbye.
