The morning air that day had a crisp chill to it, the old man's house was in near silence as everyone moved around preparing for the travels to come. Some where in rooms packing the remainder of their clothes, others were sat in the kitchen eating a breakfast, knowing they wouldn't have access to food again until they arrived home.
Y/N was having a last minute shower, their mind racing with thoughts about the events that had unfolded over the previous couple of day. Y/N thought about the state that Freed had been left in, and each individual factor that lead. If only they had been more focused on the path ahead of themselves instead of looking at the sky that day on their travels, they would never have fallen and if they had never of fallen Freed wouldn't have had that drain on his magic energy. Or if they had been more direct with Laxus about their feelings then he would have been able to sleep and Freed wouldn't have had to help him.
If they had been more observant in the wheat field they would have noticed the path sooner, maybe they had felt the presence earlier and been able to catch up to the source of power. Or if they had been more hesitant about finding the source of such a power, they would have been able to get back sooner and Freed would have been able to regain some magic energy.
They thought back to the flame that appeared around their ankle after Freed had released his ruins. Was that a result of Freed's power or theirs? If it was theirs would they be able to control it? Would it be a gift or would a curse? Their mind raced with questions as they let the water run over their body. The hot water had ran out minutes ago, leaving the water to get colder and colder until it was almost ice hitting their skin upon which they shut the water off and wrapped themselves in a towel and got dressed.
"Are you lot ready yet! I'm loosing valuable farming time!" The old man yelled in an attempt to gather the gang together. He had been nice enough to offer them a ride in his old wagon to the train station, mumbled something about how he needs more of the good coffee while he's up them parts.
Bickslow and Laxus were already outside, loading everyone's luggage into the waggon, Laxus already starting to look a bit on the greener side, he didn't have much help from Bickslow, who had been stopping to yawn after every little movement he did. Not that you could blame him, the sun had barely woken up it's self.
Ever appeared from the doorway with Freed's arm draped over her shoulder, he was feeling better but still seemed a bit unsteady on his feet, Ever wanted to help him down the steps at the front door and into the wagon. Realising they were holding the team up, they ran down the stairs and out of the door, leaving their breakfast in the kitchen.
The wagon ride wasn't the most pleasant ride in the world, especially when it was mixed with the old bumpy roads, the ride left everyone feeling a little ill, let alone the dragon slayers of the group. It didn't help that the old man was only just getting started, getting faster and faster with each passing bump of the road. As the bumping started to die down the gang knew they must be drawing close to the station, and began to grab all of their bags and put them over their shoulders.
As they climbed out of the wagon, Lexus staggered over to the old man at the front, he thanked the man for the ride and for offering up his home to them over the last couple of days, the man nodded in response before driving off into the distance.
"What time is it?" Freed asked, looking around for a clock.
"6.43, what time is the train again ?" Ever asked
"Quarter to, I think." Lexus answered nonchalantly.
"Quarter to?" Y/ N asked
"Quarter to?" Laxus said confusion written on his face. He then locked eyes with Y/N before realisation of what he said sunk in. "Oh, shit!" he said before they all raced to catch the train.
