It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again With candy canes and silver lanes aglowLisa wakes up groggy as she looks around the room that she shares with Jennie. It was Saturday so they were in Jennie’s house (but most these days they were at Jennie’s house really, except for sleeping during the weekdays). The music continues to blast from somewhere downstairs and Lisa wipes the drool from her cheek as she gets up. She grabs the light sweater hanging off Jennie’s small sofa and shrugs it on.
The door to the room opens and Riley comes in. “Lisa, are you awake?”
“No, I’m sleepwalking,” Lisa says as she straightens her arms in front of her and walks towards Riley like a zombie.
Riley yelps and runs out the room, yelling. “Mommy! Lisa’s awake!”
“Don’t run on the stairs, Riles!” Lisa calls out after her.
“I don’t listen to people who are sleeptalking!” Riley calls over her shoulder. She did slow down, though, as she grips the banister.
Lisa follows the music and the smells of waffles, and other breakfast goodies. At the end she finds the family room littered with boxes, some open, some closed, that had Christmas Decorations written on them. Lisa smiles as she sees Asher with a bundle of Christmas lights in front of him, his tongue out as he tries to untangle the bundle.
“Morning, babe,” Jennie greets as she hands Lisa a cup of coffee.
“Morning,” Lisa says, accepting the cup. Jennie made to move back towards the food but Lisa grabs her wrist and pulls her back, deftly maneuvering the cup out of the way. She captures Jennie’s lips with hers. “You had cinnamon rolls?!” Lisa exclaims as she pulls away and takes a sip of the coffee. She puts it on the counter and follows Jennie. “I feel cheated!”
Jennie rolls her eyes as she turns back to the stove. “I’m making your favorite, though.”
“Chocolate chip waffles and bacon?!” Lisa exclaims as she wraps her arms around Jennie and perches her chin on her shoulder. Lisa nuzzles into Jennie’s neck, inhaling Jennie’s scent that’s uniquely hers and places a soft kiss there. “Why is there music blasting in every part of the house?”
Jennie laughs. “Is that what woke you up? I sent Riley up there to try and wake you up.”
“The start of Johnny Mathis’s song woke me up,” Lisa says.
“How? The start of that song is like a Disney song!” Jennie laughs.
“Yeah, but with the volume you have it on? It basically startled me from my very very nice dream,” Lisa says.
“And, pray tell, what your dream was about?”
“Well, I was at the beach with the most beautiful girl. Green eyes, smooth olive skin. The best smile in the world…” Lisa says softly, her voice trailing off. Jennie feels the flutter of her pulse heightens at Lisa’s words. “Oh, and you were there too!”
“Really funny, Lisa,” Jennie grumbles as she shakes off Lisa’s head from her shoulder.
Lisa laughs. “Your jealousy side is really cute, Kim,” she says placing a small kiss on Jennie Kim’s cheek. “Tell me. Why would I dream of anyone but my green-eyed girl?”
Jennie ignores the way her heart seems to skip a beat at Lisa’s close proximity and her words. She rolls her eyes and plates the bacon and the waffle. “Here, smooth talker.” She shoves the plate at Lisa before walking to the family room to help the other three with the decoration.
