Many differing expressions could be found in the white hospital room. Some were confused, others were shocked. The white furred mammal was within neither of these groups; No, he was laughing at the look on Killua's face.
"Did you... not know of your Quirk?" The detective finally gave into his obvious confusion, successfully drawing the attention of everyone in the room to himself. "I mean, it does seem rather obvious..." The man trailed off.
"Well, the last time I checked, I sure as hell wasn't like this..." Killua was trying his best to stay calm, he really was, but how was he supposed to stay calm when he had literal cat ears? He ran his hand through his hair, laughing with a hint of hysteria, wincing when he hit a sensitive spot near the base of the newly acquired ears. Nezu resorted to covering his chuckles with his teacup as Killua relished in the grounding feeling of his hand in his hair. 'The people here are really weird... And where did he get that tea from?'
"What do you mean?" The white haired boy finally composed himself as his hands both fell to his sides, the bands around his body having receded back to their owner at some point.
"I mean, that I most certainly did not have a... well, these! Not before I literally fell from the sky!"
"Then... what was your Quirk before... those, then?"
"I don't know..." He had decided not to show them Nen, whether they could actually see it or not, though the odds of them seeing it were higher. They can clearly see their 'Quirks', and since those seemed to function like pre-programmed Hatsu abilities, it was likely that they could see his Hatsu, too. 'Though they aren't reacting to aura, so maybe it's something genetic?'
The boy raised a finger, concentrating a little to change the form of his aura to a number, just like Bisky had trained them. But instead of staring at the large 9 floating above Killua's finger, they all just stared at the finger itself, clearly confused as to why he was holding up his finger. 'So they can't see the aura itself, but they can see Hatsu? Does it have something to do how their bodies use life energy? Maybe, through evolution, their bodies have mutated to accommodate these premade Hatsu—which would explain some physical changes like that guy's eyes glowing or my literal fucking tail—and has discarded the ability to see aura in its 'raw' form, survival of the fittest style? Since they had their abilities from birth and their aura is so different due to how Quirks work, maybe the ability to actually see aura has receded? Perhaps their bodies have grown so accustomed to Quirks through evolution and what not, that they're only capable of actually seeing aura with abnormal qualities, which is Hatsu or Quirks...'
One way or another, Killua decided not to showcase any of his abilities. It would be unwise to show what would in their eyes be a Quirk, that could possibly single him out even more.
"You don't know? Was this caused by someone else's Quirk, then?" And that had Killua thinking. He hadn't really seen the man, too preoccupied with the excitement of finally having beaten Greed Island and plot convenience, so he couldn't tell if his aura also had a weird tint to it like these people's aura.
"I would assume so, yes" At this point, Killua was getting tired of the senseless questions, his annoyance easily portrayed through his tone of voice, though he played it off as if he was annoyed at the general situation, adopting a somber look as he stared thoughtfully at the floor. Considering how several expressions around the room softened, his little ploy clearly worked.
"Well, the problem we're facing now is what to do with you. We have practically no idea where you're from and seemingly can't remember. So, I have a proposition. If you were to agree, I would like to have you take the entrance exam to my school in about 4 months, should we be unable to find your home and get you there. Should you pass, you can take part in the hero course, which will give you ample opportunity to make connections and perhaps gain a footing here in Japan, in case you cannot find a way home. You can, of course, also join other courses, the choice is all yours after all, though the hero course may be best to gain connections. We'll start searching our systems for any indication of where you're from, and even should you fail the exams, you will of course still be provided with a place to stay and the opportunity for education. We'll also continue the search, of course. You'll have to stay with one of our teachers for a while until we can arrange a better solution, as I'm rather sure you don't want to stay with a stranger, and we'll have to produce documents for you, though that should be rather easy with a bit of pressure applied to the right people" The white furred mammal spoke up, hopping onto the bed to gain some height.
