A Time Will Come.
The crowds were suffocating.
Flowers were thrown for the Sweet Seductress, pens were thrust in her direction for signatures, and numerous people cried for her to be spared.
She was getting good at blocking it all out, she weaved through, gripping the back of Kit's shirt to not get lost. He followed Zavir who couldn't hide that she did enjoy the attention, she, after all, was still Capitol.
Once the District 9 group got inside they noticed the accommodation had been completely refurbished. It was somehow more grand, more... shiny, full of more workers buzzing around to perfect everything. "This place looks dumb," Rosie mumbled to Kit, who nodded in agreement. "Where is Finnick?" She whispered.
A hand touched the small of her back, making her jump and immediately just into action. Over the past few days, she was getting herself back into fight mode, ready to protect those she needed to, and hurt the ones who she needed to. Her elbow raised, but was caught. "What have I said about your violent tendencies, Ro?" Finnick joked.
Rosie couldn't give less of a shit that they were in the lobby and people were watching, she threw her arms around his neck and squeezed tightly. He hugged her close, enjoying the scent of lavender that she always smelled of. His fingers grabbed at her shirt, with his fingertips pressing into her soft skin. He enjoyed each beat of her heart; as she did his. Everything, for a brief minute, felt perfect.
"Come on, love birds," Haymitch's voice made Rosie groan.
Still, after years, their relationship was interesting. She'd thrown many a knife at him, he'd chucked far too many pastries at her. Finnick was always there to smooth everything over. Rosie wondered what Haymitch would think of her slapping Katniss. It was hardly the most mature thing she'd done. Nancy's demands for an apology rang in her ears as she pulled away from Finnick's embrace.
"Where's Katniss?" Rosie asked awkwardly.
Haymitch smirked. "Hiding from you–"
She glared.
"You're no fun. She's escaped to the penthouse. I can bring you if you promise not to kill her?" He raised an eyebrow.
Rosie didn't open her mouth, then Finnick put a hand on her back, a gentle encouragement. "I won't kill her. Or hurt her. I'll even offer her a free slap, sound good?"
"She can't slap y–" Finnick began.
"Come on Rosemary, she cannot wait to see you," Haymitch gestured in the direction they were to go in.
Rosie glanced back at Finnick, 'I'll meet you in the Loft', she mouthed, getting a nod from Finnick.
The walk to the elevator was short and quiet. Rosie's hands picked at the hem of her sleeve as Haymitch too swig after swig. "Promise she won't kill me? I'd like to at least make it a second in the Arena," Rosie grumbled.
"You really don't like apologising, do you?" He jokes, Rosie glared. "She—for lack of a better word—respects you. You guys are the same, you just go about it in different ways. Somehow you're friendlier, and you have tried killing me a few too many times."
The toe of Rosie's shoe tapped the floor of the elevator. "You throw pastries at me."
The elevator opened and Rosie followed Haymitch down the hall. Once the door opened Katniss was the first thing she saw. Haymitch looked between the two and gestured with his head for Rosie to apologise. The girl cleared her throat, "Can I speak to you for a second?" She asked. Katniss looked sceptical. "I don't have a weapon and I'm not going to... hit you. Promise."
