Cayde's brow furrowed tightly as he stared at the woman before him. "What?" he whispered before Eliana took a step nearer, her hand outstretched. "No," he said sharply, causing the woman to freeze, her hand still outstretched. "Only-"
"Only mates can touch," Eliana finished for him. "Sorry, I wasn't thinking."
Something about the interaction gave Cayde pause as he watched Eliana take a step back. Almost immediately, the woman doubled over, her pain sharp as it stole her breath. Cayde moved to take a step towards her but felt himself ache also, the pain causing him to freeze where he stood as the bulge in his pants visibly throbbed.
Eliana's gaze snapped up at the sound of Cayde's grunt of pain. Her eyes watched the throb of his bulge before she flicked it up to see the pained expression on the man's face. "Cayde," she whispered, the woman feeling her stomach flip when his eyes snapped open, his brown eyes immediately meeting her gaze. "Have... have we met before?" The man shook his head gently, his eyes never leaving hers. Eliana licked her lips as she breathed her way through another wave of throbbing heat. "Truce?"
"Truce?" Cayde repeated, his head tilting.
"No more fighting. We make a truce."
"You want to be friends?" Eliana nodded. "But what do we do about this? It won't wear off."
Eliana gulped. "Friends will make it easier to live a life... together." Cayde tilted his head and furrowed his brows. "Mated means married, right? At least, that's what I was told."
Cayde blinked at the woman for a moment before speaking. "You want to lay with me?"
"No," Eliana admitted quickly. "But I want this pain to end." Cayde nodded as another wave hit him. He extended his hand out to Eliana, intending for her to shake it and confirm their truce, but the woman pulled his hand nearer to her, her gaze fixed on the trinket around his wrist. "How the fuck do you have this?" She gasped, her eyes flicking up to meet his. "This isn't yours."
"Yes, it is," Cayde defended as he snatched his limb back from the woman. "It was a gift."
"Not to you, it wasn't! Give it back!" Cayde took a few steps back but quickly found himself with his back to the wall and the small woman flush against him as she stood on her tiptoes to reach the hand he had simply extended above his head. Her hand pulled on his shoulder as she attempted to clamber up him, her fingers barely reaching the elbow of his extended arm. Her body brushed up tight against his trousers, causing him to grunt and growl deeply.
"Don't growl at me, beastie," Eliana grumbled as her face neared Cayde's. Their lips were only a hair's width apart as their breath intermingled.
"Ranger, stop," Cayde hissed as she brushed up even further still.
"That isn't yours!" Eliana insisted as she reached ever higher.
Cayde's gaze locked upon Eliana's tear-filled eyes as she clambered for the tiny scraps of entwined yarn that had long since broken, resulting in the once necklace becoming a roughly tied bracelet that Cayde's mother insisted he remove.
Cayde's eyes flicked up to the trinket as Eliana's fingers brushed the hand carved bird charm hanging from the yarn. "It is mine," he said, his voice low. "It was made for me."
"No, it wasn't! It belongs to the-"
Eliana's words were cut off as Cayde scooped the woman up before carefully dropping her to the floor. Her hands remained where they had been, but her legs wrapped around his as he pressed himself against her. Eliana's eyes remained on the trinket above her as Cayde's lips grazed her ear as he whispered. "It belongs to the greatest knight in all the realm. His middle name is Aderyn, it means bird."
