Tears welled up in my eyes as I watched Ultraman stand, against the backdrop of a dark, rain-soaked city. I wiped my eyes quickly, then I walked around the pod. I picked my glasses up from the floor and put them on. Everything was slightly blurry. The lenses were smudged and cloudy. I squinted, took them off and grabbed a small cloth from a nearby shelf.
I cleaned the glasses and put them back on, the world coming into sharp focus. I could see Ultraman clearly now, his form towering over the city. He was poised and ready to face the Kaiju. His eyes glowed a fierce, electric blue.
I moved over to where Professor Hayao was sitting, helping him lean back and get more comfortable. He tried to stand but I stopped him, giving him a firm look. "You need to be careful," I said.
"I need to see my son," he replied.
"Dad, are you okay?" Kenji's voice crackled through the speakers.
"Yes Kenji," Professor Hayao responded softly. "I'm okay."
"Alright," Kenji said, relief evident in his tone. Then he yelled at the Kaiju, "Hey ugly!"
The monster turned and snarled, its eyes glowing with malice as it charged. Ultraman met the beast head-on, delivering a powerful punch to its jaw. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, and the Kaiju staggered back, momentarily stunned.
The Kaiju roared in anger and lunged at Ultraman. He dodged out of the way and delivered a series of quick jabs to its torso. The Kaiju recovered quickly, lunging at Ultraman with its massive claws.
Ultraman barely escaped the swipe. He countered with a swift kick to the Kaiju's midsection. The monster stumbled back, hissing.
The rain pelted down, obscuring my view. It was getting hard to see, and the wind whipped through the city, causing buildings to sway and shake. A storm was brewing, and it was about to get a lot worse.
"You need to get out of here, Ami," Kenji said.
I hurried over to the pod's control panel and tried to make sense of the readouts. Then I started the pod. It made a whirring noise, and I saw the controls move, but nothing happened. I frowned and tried again.
Nothing.
"I'm stuck," I shouted.
"The energy levels are low," I heard Mina say. "The pod will need time to recharge."
I stared at a meter, and I saw that it was blinking red.
Mina's voice cut through the tension. "Ken the KDF is sending in reinforcements. You need to end this quickly."
"Okay," Kenji replied.
He launched himself into the air, the rain falling heavily. His feet hit the ground, the impact sending a wave of tremors through the city. He was moving so fast, the water was parting in his wake.
The Kaiju swung its tail again, catching Ultraman and sending him skidding across the ground. He rolled to his feet quickly, launching himself at the Kaiju with a series of rapid punches. Each blow landed well, but the Kaiju seemed unfazed, its eyes glowing with rage. It tried to swing its tail at him again, and this time, Ultraman caught it. He spun, his momentum carrying him and the Kaiju through the air. With a mighty swing, he slammed the creature into the ground, creating a massive crater in the street.
It wasn't down for long. With a furious snarl, it lunged at Ultraman, catching him off guard and slamming him into a nearby building.
"Kenji!" I cried, my heart pounding.
Ultraman struggled to his feet, his movements slow and labored. The Kaiju charged again, and he barely managed to dodge, retaliating with a powerful punch to the beast's side. The Kaiju roared in pain and fury, its tail thrashing wildly. It crashed into another building, and the structure collapsed beneath its weight.
