Barry's P.O.V.- Terra AKA Earth, 22 years later (2003)
Having woken up roughly half an hour to three quarters of an hour ago, I was currently sitting behind my redwood oak Woodbuzz desk and facing my Periodic Table of Elements that was two feet tall and three feet wide and stuck to my tangerine orange painted wall with four thumb tacks, one in each corner of the huge paper that the Periodic Table of Elements was printed on, and was looking at a couple of sheets that were on my desk when I heard as double rap on my closed russet-brown stained oak door. Fearing that it was my sweet and always loving mom checking to see if I was indeed up, I hastily moved to hide the sheets that I had been looking over under my chemistry textbook before moving to unlock my bedroom door.
"It's open!" I announced, sitting back behind my desk.
"Hey Slugger, Mom wanted me to let you know that breakfast is ready." My dad replied after stepping inside my fairly cluttered bedroom and leaning up against my doorframe.
"Okay dad, I'll be right down." I assured my dad.
"So, how are you coming along with Mom's birthday gift, you've been working on it for a week now." My dad said after moving away from the doorframe and closing my bedroom door.
"Actually Dad, I think I finally have the design for Mom's birthday gift finally down pat, now all I have to do is make it." I told Dad excitedly.
"Okay, well Slugger, don't be too long or your breakfast will get cold." Dad told me, ruffling my somewhat short bronde hair that came down to the middle of my ears with his left hand, his thin slightly tarnished golden wedding band rubbing against my scalp.
"Don't worry Dad, I'll be right down I just need to finish up here." I assured my dad with my typical smile, while attempting to fix my, now, ruffled hair.
"Okay, I'll be sure to let Mom know that you'll be down right away. Now one thing before I go, now that you've gotten your design for Mom's birthday gift down that mean you'll want to work on it at Carmichael High, specifically in one of the science rooms?" Dad asked me, his strong right hand resting on my golden, fingerprint smudged, doorknob.
"Actually, yeah if that's okay Dad I mean for what I'm designing for Mom's birthday gift, the science rooms in Carmichael High are much better suited for my needs it's not like I have my own fully equipped chemistry lab here in my bedroom. Not to mention I don't have to worry about keeping it hidden so Mom doesn't accidently see her birthday gift early." I explained to Dad, moving from behind my somewhat messy desk and over to my chocolate-brown stained walnut nightstand that was stationed to the right-hand side of my semi-made double-bed, the mate of the nightstand positioned to the left side of my double-bed.
"Okay Slugger, when you put it that way, yes you can work on Mom's birthday gift at Carmichael High, just make sure that you don't shrink off, not only, your other schoolwork but also your chores around here, not that I am overly worried about you doing that, you're a good kid after all." Dad replied after gesturing around my, less than neat, room with his head before turning the golden doorknob clockwise opening it and leaving my space.
Standing at mu right-hand nightstand I opened the door revealing the 200g can of two thirds empty Aqueon Tropical Flakes that was to the left of the significantly smaller 35g can of nearly full Fluval Shrimp Granules that was turned to the left slightly so that the label wasn't quite visible from where I was. I then bent over slightly and pulled out the clear can showing the multicolored tropical flakes, set the can on top of the nightstand right next to my Carmichael High library copy of Lord of the Flies that I had just glanced over the night before. I then bent back over and proceeded to pull out the smaller white can and set it next to the Aqueon Tropical Flakes, a top of my copy of Lord of the Flies.
