Why did I have to overpack so much?
In total, I packed six suitcases and each of them weighs way too much and because I have a shitty family, I have to be the one to carry them all downstairs. On my own.
I should take this as a lesson to pack efficiently but this isn't school where I learn things, so no.
I barely got 2-3 hours of sleep because insomnia kept me awake and then I had to wake up at 6 a.m. so I could get all ready without the screeching noises of the people I'm supposed to call family.
I was able to take a long shower and get ready taking all the time I wanted. I also got to eat breakfast without my parents making stupid comments about what I ate. I did regret what I ate but what has happened has happened.
I'm hauling my suitcase downstairs when my brother Jason sneaks up behind me and starts talking in his weirdly deep voice. "Fucking finally you're leaving this place and there will be peace in the home because Mother and Father won't be yelling at you," literally everything he says is so dumb.
"Fuck off Jason. Either help me or leave me alone," I demand from him.
"Bye Merideth, I won't miss you," he yells as he leaves the room. Why does he think he is better than everyone around him? He is 24 and instead of going to college and getting some type of degree he believes he can still live with his parents and survive his life with their money.
Once I'm done hauling all of my bags downstairs,I put them by the door and walk towards the kitchen where my family is eating their breakfast.
My Father is annoyingly slurping his coffee while watching some football game on the television. The only sport I will ever watch is F1, it fascinates me so much.
I grab a small bowl of fruits from the fridge and hear my father's voice. "Good breakfast Merideth. Those fruits should fill you up until evening and even then make sure you don't eat too much, you must keep with the standards." I am so thankful I leave this place in a few minutes.
"Yes father," I agree with his demands knowing that I ate a good breakfast without his knowledge.
I continue eating the fruits and pray that I get the message that Wes is here with our other friends to come pick me up. My mother enters the kitchen in a put together, formal outfit and I know she will make some remark on me knowing I am dressed comfy. She just eyes me up and down, thinking of all the things she will say.
"Merideth your outfit is not of standard for your impression to the elites children in the school. Also why are your eye bags so darkened? Do you not have a well concealer?" My insomnia is getting worse I can't control this and even most meds won't help me.
"I just wanted to dress comfy for the drive mother, I didn't know I was supposed to be decked out like I'm going to Fashion Week." I have an urge to roll my eyes but I know that will get me hurt.
My phone chimes and I see that Wes is here to pick me up. "Mother, Father," I get their attention. "They're here to pick me up, I'm leaving."
I start walking towards the door and see my parents follow. I turn around to say my good byes and my mom approaches me first. "Good bye Merideth. Keep your studies well and your appearance even better." She stops talking and opens her arms to hug me, she never does that. I give her a quick hug and pull back to face my father.
"Merideth, keep our family name well and don't do anything to hurt the name or I will hurt you," he keeps his voice stern and puts emphasis on the threat.
