Annie, Changmin, and  kids had dinner in silence, the weight of unspoken words hanging heavily over them. After the meal, Changmin took the children to their room, leaving Annie alone in the kitchen. She stood by the sink, lost in thought, her hands mechanically scrubbing the dishes.

"Today, Jungkook came to my office," Changmin said suddenly, his voice slicing through the quiet as he entered the kitchen and joined her at the sink.

Annie froze, her heart pounding. She knew she had to talk to him, but the right words felt impossible to find.

"Chang—"

"No, Annie, don’t. Please," he interrupted, his voice trembling. He turned his face away, trying to hide the tears forming in his eyes. He could already guess what she was going to say.

"I can never hurt you, Chang. But it’s necessary—"

"Why? Why is it necessary?" His voice cracked with pain. "Just tell him you don’t want him. It’s that simple. He can’t force you."

"But I still love him," she said, her voice breaking. She knew it was a lie, but she needed to say something to keep him from leaving. She didn't want him to sacrifice more for her. He already done a lot for her and till when he'll hung on them, he needed to move on.

Changmin’s eyes were filled with sorrow as he looked at her. "You still love him? After everything he’s done to you?"

"Heart doesn’t listen to reason, Chang."

"So, now that he’s back, you don’t want me anymore, right?" His voice was almost a whisper. "Fine, I’ll go."

He turned away, moving to pack his things. Annie’s heart ached as she watched him, feeling the enormity of what was happening. She finished the dishes and followed him to the room, where he was furiously stuffing clothes into a bag.

"Chang," she said softly, her voice barely a whisper.

He ignored her, continuing to pack with angry, jerky movements.

"Chang, at least listen to me," she pleaded, but he still didn’t stop. Desperation clawed at her as she reached out and grabbed the bag from his hands.

"I’m a human being, too," he said, tears streaming down his face.

"The kids call me ‘Dad.’ How can I just leave you all behind? How am I supposed to live without you three?" His voice broke, and his shoulders shook with sobs. Annie’s own tears flowed freely now, her heart shattering.

"I’m so sorry," she whispered through her tears.

Changmin shook his head, his own tears mixing with hers. He gently wiped her tears away, his touch tender despite his anguish.

"Don’t cry. I can’t bear to see you cry because of me. I want to be the person who makes you smile, not the one who brings you pain." He gently guided her to sit on the edge of the bed, then knelt in front of her, his face full of heartbreak.

"It would be a lie if I said I never loved you. I’m only human, and despite my efforts, I fell in love with you and the kids. My love isn’t like Jungkook’s or Taehyung’s or Soo Hyun’s. I don’t want to claim you or make you mine. I just want to see you happy." His words were full of raw emotion, and they both cried together, the room echoing with their sorrow.

"I don’t deserve you," Annie sobbed, feeling overwhelmed by the depth of her regret.

"You deserve everything good in this world," he said, his voice breaking.

"Do you remember that day Jungkook called you in US and I came to get you? That was the first time I truly saw you. I saw how nervous you were, clutching your bag, trying to be brave. It was clear you were scared, meeting someone you barely knew in a foreign country. I saw how you took care of Jungkook while he took you for granted. When I helped you at the bridge, I just wanted you to feel safe and for Jungkook to learn a lesson. I wasn't planning to keep you away for too long."

He paused, wiping his eyes. "Do you remember when I was about to leave after helping you settle here? I planned to tell Jungkook everything when I returned to Korea, but then you held my hand with trembling fingers, your lips quivering. Your eyes were pleading with me to stay. I couldn’t leave. When the twins were born, their sparkling eyes stopped me once more. I Again planned to tell Jungkook And then Jae called me ‘Dad’ and reached out his tiny hands to me. How could I go? I couldn’t. Was I too selfish for staying?"

Annie shook her head, unable to form words. Her heart ached for the pain she had caused him.

"I’m sorry," she cried harder, her voice cracking.

"Please, don’t cry. I can’t stand to see your tears," he begged, his own tears falling freely as he cupped her face in his hands.

"Deep down, I always knew you might never move on from Jungkook, but I hoped, just a little, that you’d find a way to forget him and let me be part of your family, too." His voice was filled with a deep, aching sorrow that mirrored her own.

The room was filled with their shared pain, a poignant testament to the love they had for each other and the heartbreak of their situation.

"I’m letting you go this time," Changmin said, his voice heavy with pain. "But I swear, if he ever hurts you again, I’ll break his bones." His words were firm, but the tears streaming down his face betrayed the depth of his hurt.

Annie's sobs grew louder, her heart breaking as she heard his promise. She felt a rush of conflicting emotions—relief mixed with guilt and sorrow.

"I love you," Changmin continued softly. "And I always will." He pressed a gentle kiss to her temple.

In that moment, Annie’s tears fell even harder. She threw her arms around him, holding him tightly as if afraid he might disappear. They clung to each other, their bodies shaking with the intensity of their shared grief. Both of them cried freely, the sound of their anguish mingling in the room. Their embrace was a poignant mix of love and loss, an unspoken promise that, even in their separation, they would always hold a piece of each other's hearts.

The next morning, Jae saw Changmin holding a packed bag and asked with a puzzled look, "Dad, are you going somewhere?"

Changmin’s eyes were already full of tears. He knelt down to Jae’s level, struggling to keep his voice steady. "My time here is over, sweetheart. I have to go now."

"But where are you going? You’re not taking us with you?" Seol asked, joining them with a worried face.

"I can’t," Changmin whispered, tears starting to roll down his cheeks.

Annie walked into the room, her eyes red and swollen from crying. She watched with a heavy heart, feeling the pain of the moment deeply.

"But I promise I’ll keep seeing you and your mother, okay?"

"Why are you leaving us? Please, take us with you," Jae begged, his voice trembling with fear.

"Now that your dad is back, you need to stay with him," Changmin said gently.

"Our dad? You are our dad," Seol said with a mixture of confusion.

Changmin shook his head, unable to hold back his tears. "I was here because your real dad sent me to take care of you while he was away. I was looking after you, but I’m not your real dad."

Annie’s tears began to fall freely, her heart breaking as she saw his pain.

"You’re lying," Seol cried, her voice breaking.

"Don’t cry, Seolah," Changmin said softly. "Do you know who your real dad is? It’s your muscle man."

"Jk? My dad?" Seol’s eyes widened in shock.

"Yes, he’s always very busy, so he needed someone to look after you. That’s why I was here. Now that he’s back, it’s time for me to go," Changmin explained, his voice filled with sorrow.

"It doesn’t matter. You’re still our dad," Jae said, hugging Changmin tightly. Seol joined the hug, holding on to him with all her strength.

Seeing the children’s tears and their desperate hugs, Annie couldn’t hold back her own tears. She watched as Changmin hugged the kids tightly, their shared sadness filling the room. The heartache of saying goodbye was overwhelming, and the pain of leaving behind the family he had grown to love was almost too much to bear.
