The next week, as the students walked into class, the usual rush of excitement for math was conspicuously absent. Mrs. Adebayo had retired, and there was an empty, dark hole she left behind. The class had managed to put together a heartfelt farewell gift for her. An elegant card, a bouquet of flowers, and a box of chocolates. Mrs. Adebayo had been overjoyed, her eyes sparkling as she received their tokens. They'd shared a group hug, and a few tears were shed. The moment was adorable, one Divine cherished deeply.
Divine couldn't shake the hollow feelings. Nor could she think of a single soul that would fill the unique space Mrs. Adebayo had occupied. Divine felt like she missed the engaging stories, explanations, and the encouragement that had made math all that better, and the class hadn't even started yet.
"This new teacher better be fucking amazing or I swear," her friend Valeria mumbled to her. Divine nodded, agreeing.
Valeria was perhaps the only student who seemed to like Divine. Although she was as much of a "goody two-shoes" as the rest, Valeria had the sense to see that Divine wasn't a bad person; the school's rules were just exceedingly strict.
"Yeah...fuck this shit, man."
The door swung open with a bang, causing the entire class to turn their heads in unison. A relatively short woman entered, her face hidden behind a towering stack of books she clutched tightly. Murmurs and whispers filled the room as students speculated about their new teacher. Some snickered while others exchanged puzzled glances, trying to decipher who this new arrival might be.
From Divine's vantage point, she noticed a tattoo of tiny fairies on the woman's left hand, which gripped the stack of books. The woman wore several silver rings, and her skin was quite pale—much paler than Divine's own.
With a sigh, Divine rolled her eyes. She was in no mood for anyone other than Mrs. Adebayo. Grumbling softly, she bent down to retrieve her water bottle from her tote bag, taking a long sip, refocusing her gaze on the new teacher.
The petite woman placed the stack of books on the dark oak desk with a soft thud, releasing a small puff of air from her cheeks as if to calm herself. Divine, choked on the water she sipped on, her cheeks flaring red as she buried her face in the crook of her arm, coughing softly. The sight before her was nothing short of breathtaking.
The young teacher had long, inky black hair that cascaded down her back, perfectly framing her face with an adorable fringe. Freckles danced across her flustered cheeks and the bridge of her button nose, giving her a whimsical charm. But it was her eyes that truly captivated Divine—an exquisite shade of pale, icy, blue that shimmered just above her bottom lids with long thick lashes all around the lids.
Her lips were a soft, inviting pink, plump and kissable, and when she smiled at her new class, her teeth were somehow even straighter than Mrs. Adebayo's, gleaming like polished pearls. Divine's gaze drifted downward, taking in the rest of her figure. The woman wore a fitted black top that hugged her curves just right, paired with oversized black pants that contrasted with her small frame.
Divine bit back a smile, the urge to grin nearly overwhelming her. The woman was, without a doubt, the most stunning person she had ever seen. As Divine continued to gaze at the vision before her, she realized that even if this new teacher was terrible at math, it wouldn't matter—she was easily the hottest woman Divine had ever laid eyes on.
The woman caught her breath, her chest rising and falling gently as she lifted her gaze to the class. A slow, genuine smile spread across her lips as she took in the room, her pale blue eyes twinkling with surprise and delight. The classroom was a mandala of colors—vines twisted around the walls, intertwining with vibrant posters that illustrated mathematical concepts in a way that made them feel almost alive. From the ceiling, delicate pink flowers hung like chandeliers in woven baskets, their soft petals releasing a sweet scent of vanilla and jasmine.
