3rd Person

The yellow moon pieced through the deep red sky like a bullet wound.

Tat.

A group of children, high schoolers, raced through the woods, rushing to get away from the monsters running behind them.

"TIME?!" The red haired 'loner', Ashlyn, yelled.

Logan, the 'nerd', yelled back, "8 MINUTES!" As he looked at his watch.

They all kept running, running like their lives depended on it.

Because it did.

Ashlyn's thoughts were racing, Just a bit longer-

Its close!, Ashlyn thought, her head racing through what she could do as beads of sweat ran down her forehead.

"ASHLYN!" The 'sarcastic', ashy-brown haired girl, Dakota, yelled, catching her attention, "THE GRAVEYARD!"

Ashley's eyes stared at the wall and gate in-front of them, speeding up towards it.

The group raced towards the open gate as fast as their legs could take them.

Through the gate, finally, Dakota rushes towards the button to close the gate.

"CLOSE THE GATE, CLOSE THE GATE!"
Tyler, the 'popular' boy screamed at her.

Dakota does as she's instructed, slamming her hand down on the button as hard as she can, watching the gate shut while wishing it would shut quicker.

The group all turn, weapons drawn, facing the gate, all wishing the same thing as Dakota.

The monster, the phantom, ran closer to the gate.

The gate then slammed on the phantom's face, blocking it from hurting the group.

A sigh of relief is released from pretty much every single person.

"Well," Starts Dakota, "That was fun."

The group ignore the sarcastic girl, as Ashlyn speaks up.

"Alright, let's head to the bus."

The short walk was quiet, the group trying to calm down from the interaction with the phantoms.

In the bus, the group slump into the seats, groaning of exhaustion from running,

"Ughh." Tyler moaned, "That sucked."

"Whatever do you mean, Tyler? That's my idea of fun." Dakota stated, a blank look on her face. "Thinking of hiring them lot for my next birthday party."

"Oh shut up." He replied, leaning farther into his seat.

Tyler was sat next to his twin sister, the 'popular' girl, Taylor. The 'class clown', Aiden, sat on the floor in the middle of the isle. Logan sat on his own a little ways away from the group. Ashlyn also sat on her own, massaging her feet from the pain of running. And the 'sarcastic' and the 'mute' sat together.

The 'mute', ben, sat hunched over, still catching his breathe, while Dakota stole small glances at him, making sure he was okay without making it obvious.

Caring about people had never really been one of her personality traits. And she didn't really know why she had started to care about this particular person.

Dakota looks over at Ben, turning her head slightly. Checking over his face and arm to try and locate any sign of injury.

As she's about to come to the conclusion that there isn't anything to check on, his head turns in her direction.

The sudden eye contact startles both of them, neither expecting the other to be looking at them.

But neither of them look away, eyes locked by the subtlest of tension the moment created.

They continue to stare at each other, a
soft smile making its way across Ben's face causing Dakota to react the same.

"Ah." Ashlyn's voice startles the pair out of the trans they felt while looking at each other. "The banging stopped."

Dakota listens out to hear that the banging had indeed stopped.

"It probably gave up or someth..." Tyler starts to say but stops, eyes widening.

Dakota felt a shiver run down her spine at the sudden halt of the usually chatty boy.

She lifts her head to look over the seats just in time to see a blacked out hand claw around the frame on the door.

The girl grabbed the closest thing to her as an instinct of fear, which just so happened to be Ben's arm.

The quiet boy tore his gaze from the phantom at the door to the girl. Seeing the look of terror in her eyes hurt him.

He placed his hand over hers on his arm, trying his best to form the smallest bit of comfort, for the both of them.

The phantom stalked towards the teenagers, cracking and turning it's neck in an inhumane manner.

The group all scramble to get away from the creature.

"HOW?!" Ashlyn freaked, not really looking for an answer, and no one really willing to provide one.

They rush towards the back of the bus, away form the monster out for blood.

With their weapons behind the phantom, this left them defenceless.

As the group hit the dead end of the bus, they all spun to see the monster still stalking towards them.

The only thing they felt was pure fear.
