Dekota's POV

Handing my permission slip to the teacher, I grab my bag strap and lean against the nearest lamp post. I look around for anyone else I can spot from my group.

To my right, standing around a group of people that have a bigger ego than any actor I know of. Are the twins, smiling with way too much energy for this early in the morning.

On the left of me is Logan, standing on his own trying to keep any attention off of himself. I kinda feel bad for the kid.

And, as the last lot to arrive, Ashlyn, Aiden and Ben, walking towards the rest of the class, Aiden, much like the twins, looking way too happy to be here.

As soon as the final people arrived, we all register and get on the bus. Wanting to sit with our group, we sit near eachother. The twins sitting next to eachother, Ashlyn and Aiden sitting right behind them. That's not awkward at all. Then it was me and Ben with me next to the window and Logan sat behind us, reading a book.

How I got sat next to Ben I don't know. But I'm here so might as well like it.

"You don't talk that much, do you?" I ask, turning my head to look at the silent boy.

He looks towards me, slightly startled, and shakes his head after hesitating for a minute.

"Hmmm." I hum, thinking about something else we could talk about without him actually having to say a word. "I'm not gonna pry into that so, do you have something that you really like, like a hobby?"

He nods very slightly towards his book, the word sketch book sprawled across it in messy block letters. Very similar to my own handwriting.

This is the most one-sided not one-sided conversation I've ever had.

"You draw?" I ask him, maybe we have a little more in common then I thought.

Again, Ben nods at me. He looks back at the book for a second, then looks back at me, his arms extending a bit, motioning the book towards me.

I look down at the book, "Really?"

Grabbing the book from him, I open it to the first page to see a very detailed drawing of Aidan, looking as happy as ever.

"This is really amazing, Ben." I say to him, my eyes fixed to the pages of the sketchbook, flicking through them and admiring every illustration.

For once, something I said isn't sarcastic.

Flicking through the next few pages I find myself staring a little long at this one page.

The book page has a few illustrations on it, but all relatively of the same thing.

A girl?

I notice that none of the drawings are of her full face, just a side profile or from behind.

I go to look closer when I feel the book being snatched from my hands. I flick my head towards Ben, who's staring at the chairs in front of us. I follow his gaze to find Aidan with a book in his hands, Ben sketchbook.

"Ooooo, Bennyyy. Who's thisss, hmmmm?" Aidan asks with the most teasing tone I could think off.

Ben shakes his head furiously, facing down towards his hands to avoid eye contact.

I look away from Ben and up at Aidan, "Probably your mum?" I say, trying to make Ben feel a little less focused on.

"Mhmmm, I'm sure it is, sarcasm." He says in a hyper voice, raising his eyebrows as he hands the book back to me.
