Dakota's POV

The chatter in the lunchroom made my head ache worse. Because of this, as soon as we found our table, I found my seat on the edge of the table next to Ben and laid my head down on the table to rest my head and eyes.

The group started talking about what happened yesterday when Tyler spoke up over everyone.

"I think we should go back to Savannah." He said, making me frown my eyebrows, not that anyone could tell.

Logan was the first to speak after that, "I thought everyone agreed it was too dangerous...?"

Yeah, I thought. That's because it is.

"So what?" Tyler started again. "We're just supposed to let things stay like they are?"

Valid.

"I'd rather be semi-stuck than permanently stuck." Ashlyn argued.

Also valid.

"Well maybe if you would have told us the truth from the beginning, we wouldn't be stuck at all!" Tyler said, raising his voice.

"I already explained why I didn't-" Ashlyn started, getting interrupted by Aiden.

"Aren't you one to talk. You're the one that brushed it off as a prank and walked off." He paused for a second to eat a bit of his lunch.

"If she had said anything, would you have even believed her?" You could hear the smirk on Aiden's face as he continues. "With your personality, I seriously doubt it."

Very fucking valid.

"Whether I would have believed it or not she should have said something!" Tyler yelled out, slamming his hands on the table, standing up. "Now we're stuck in some demonic dimension, running away from flesh-eating deadly creatures, I've lost count of how many near-death experiences I've had, None of us have slept in days, we can't tell our parents or any-"

BAM!

He's cut off by Ben slamming on the table next to me. This makes me shoot my head straight up from the shock and bit of pain the table shaking caused me.

I look over to my right to see everyone looking startled and Ben staring at Tyler with a finger on his lip, telling him to shut up.

This made me giggle as I hold my head from the head ache that was getting worse.

Tyler starts talking again but I stopped paying attention to him, focusing on my head. I go to lean back down when I see Ben looking up at me from his place down on the table.

He looks at me with a look of concern and guilt.

I smile. "The head ache wasn't just from the smack on the table, don't worry. I've had it all morning."

I try to reassure him but he still looks really guilty.

I smile more and reach out for his hand, lying my head down on the table facing him, I squeeze his hand.

He hesitates but squeezes mine back, a small smile appearing on his face.

This moment causes me to think back to two weeks ago, before all of this happened.

Two Weeks Ago

I was sat on the bus, earphones in, not ready for the school day ahead.

The bus stops at the side of the road, in front of a house it doesn't usually stop in front of.

Curiosity got the better of me as I look over the seats to see who's getting on.

Did someone move houses?

I try to think of any possible reason for the bus to be stopping at a new stop as I finally get my answer.

Two boys, boys I've never seen before, step onto the bus.

One blonde and has a smile on his face like it's been sliced into his skin.

The other is a lot taller with brown-ish hair and a look on his face a lot like mine.

As I'm looking at the pair, the taller boy looks in my direction. I see his eyes widen and he tries to look anywhere but at me.

I look slightly in front of him with a new smile on my face, only for it to immediately disappear as I make eye contact with the other boy, who's smile widens at me.

This is gonna be fucking fun.
