❝ 01 , that can be arranged ❞

Josie's was busy, as it always was on a Saturday. Elsie had been run off her feet all night with orders and drinks and conversation. But Josie had finally just called for last orders and so once they were dealt with, Elsie had some time to breathe. She grabbed the bar rag from the side and began to run it across the wooden counters, wiping away spilled alcohol and marks from the night.

It was still loud with drunken conversation and the clacking of cue balls against each other. There were still a few of the regulars finishing their last games at the pool table. The music was blaring too but it was calmer than it had been a few hours earlier and they still hadn't come. Elsie tried not to worry about it as she glanced around. Her shoulder length brown hair was tucked behind her ear. Usually, she tied it up but it'd been recently cut and it was shorter than she was used to.

So, she left it down for now. She dropped the rag next to the sink, putting her hand on her hip as she surveyed the bar. There didn't seem to be any issues and when she glanced at the clock, it was ten minutes until closing which meant Josie was about to start kicking people out. Elsie quickly turned to collecting up the empty glasses before placing them in the tub under the bar where they would be taken to the back for washing.

Josie was walking around, telling everyone to get out and Elsie heard the door open and close behind each patron that was finally leaving. The brunette turned on her heel and flicked the music down on the side which meant she could now hear the conversation that Josie was having on the other side of the room.

There was a regular that was still sitting at a table, nursing half a glass of beer as he talked with the older woman. It was the only regular that Josie seemed to actually tolerate. Otherwise, she seemed indifferent to the clientele and to Elsie. Elsie pushed off from the edge of the bar and headed around the room, picking up all the empty glasses and beer bottles from the tables.

Josie was leading the regular out the door and the second that he was gone, she let out a soft huff of annoyance. She then flipped the sign and glanced back at Elsie who had a wry smile tugging on her lips. Someone always delayed closing but at least there had been no drunk idiots trying to get another drink before they closed. For some reason, when people got drunk, they became incredibly stubborn and creepy. Elsie tried to ignore it most of the time but being a bartender opened her up to a lot of harassment.

"Might barr him next time he comes around," Josie mumbled as she began to collect glasses from the tables near the door. Elsie chuckled and she stacked glasses before she stepped back and placed the stacks on the bar.

"And lose a valued customer? Hm, I don't know about that," Elsie responded, the smile not leaving her lips. Josie scoffed as she walked up beside the brunette, placing glasses on the bar as well. Then, she turned her gaze to Elsie, an unimpressed look on her features.
