Chapter 12 - The Shocking Return

Ash's POV

"No way... Tyson actually lost..." I said as I tried to process the results of the battle.

I watched as Tyson made his way over towards me. He really looked like he felt defeated, but looked at me with a sheepish smile.

"Sorry I lost, Ash." He said. "In the end, he got the better of me."

"Yeah, and he didn't even break a sweat either." I commented as I looked towards Calem.

I don't know what exactly drives him to become stronger, but if anyone is going to take him down, it's going to be me.

"That was an amazing first battle! Now let's move onto the second battle!"

The next trainers came forward, and unfortunately, it wasn't me, and I was slowly becoming impatient. When will I get my turn to battle?

A few hours later...

Looks like the day is slowly coming to an end, and once again, I haven't been chosen to battle.

"Oh man, and I was so looking forward to it as well." I pouted.

Tyson chuckled.

"Don't worry, Ash. There's always tomorrow, you know." He said.

"He is right you know." An unknown person responded to the both of us, and it was someone I was not expecting to see.

"Wow, Wattson!" I said as I flashed a smile.

"It's good to see you, Ash. Tyson."

"Yeah, good to see you, too." Tyson nodded.

"Oh yeah, you battled Wattson once before, didn't you?" I asked.

"Yeah. His electric types are no joke." He replied.

"Hahaha, and you better be ready, Ash!"

"Huh? Why is that?"

Wattson pointed towards the screen. It showed the next battle for tomorrow, and it turns out that I am going to be battling Wattson next.

"Alright, my next battle is with you!"

"That's right, and I'll make sure I won't lose to you again." Wattson said while busting out that laugh of his.

"We won't lose to you either."

I looked at Pikachu with a smile on my face.

"Let's give it our all, okay buddy?"

"Pika pika!"

Meanwhile...

Serena's POV

Too bad Ash couldn't battle today, but I can see that he is going to be battling first tomorrow, and I hope he can win against this Wattson guy.

"So, Ash is going up against Wattson, huh?" May spoke up. "That would be interesting to watch."

I looked towards May.

"Do you know that guy too, May?" I asked.

"Yeah, Wattson is the gym leader over in Mauville City. He's... quite the guy who uses electric type Pokémon." May replied as she chuckled nervously.

I wonder what she meant by that. As soon as I try to process what she's saying, someone unfortunate comes towards us.

"Hi there, Serena." Calem said with a smirk.

"What do you want now?" I asked.

"I just want to know what you thought about my battle earlier today. I was pretty strong just now, wasn't I?" He asked.

"Yeah, but not as strong as Ash, though." I replied as I look away from him.

"Please. When I battle him, I'll make sure to destroy him." He said as he starts to walk away from May and me.

That guy really does get on my nerves sometime. But I have no doubt that Ash can defeat him. After all, he is the best trainer I have ever met.
