"Lilly do you know where my biology notes are?" I digger through everything, I even looked under my bed. I don't have time for this. I need to get to the science lab.
"Oh, is that it on top of the microwave?" Lilly responded.
"Yeah, how could I have not looked there?" I grabbed it and shoved it into my backpack along with the blood and skin samples from earlier. "If only I had my bike to get there faster!"
"Oh, don't even start!" Lilly yelled.
"I can't. I don't have time. Bye!" I left slamming the door behind me.

When I arrived to the science building it was dark, except for the science lab. I grabbed my lab jacket out and entered the lab with my samples.
Hard rock music was blaring when I opened the door. Max was seated at one of the tables looking at something under the microscope.
I walked slowly over to Max and tapped his shoulder, and he turned around with a relieved smile on his face. "Hey Max. Sorry I'm late. My bike is being fixed so I had to walk."
"That's okay." He replied. "I didn't hear you come in, so you scared me when you tapped me on the shoulder, but when I turned around I saw you. So, it's all good."
"Look what I got." I said as I held out the samples of blood and skin.
"How did you get that?" He asked cautiously.
"Earlier today, before we saw you at the coffee shop, I got attacked by a man infected with the virus. After Shannon tranquilizer him I got some samples of his rashy skin and his blood. I figured since I'm a science student I could study it. And what better time to do it when there is two of us to examine it. Also check this out." I said, holding the vile of blood up towards the light. "It has a greenish tint to it."
"Interesting. Let's get to work then. I'll get the swabs and slides."
Before he did so, he looked at me, straight in the eyes. What is this feeling? It feels like my heart is fighting to get out of my chest. I can't stop looking at him. Is it disgust or... is it love?
"Um, I suppose we should get started now, before the doors lock and we have to spent the whole night here alone." He said, almost as if he wanted us to get locked in here.
I snort giggled. How embarrassing! I looked to see if he heard it, but he wasn't looking at me, so I think I'm safe. Or is he so disgusted he doesn't want to look at me? He was the one that suggested this. So really it's his fault.
Not wanting me to see me spacing out I got to work.
"I found the virus." Max said blankly.
"Oh, let me see!" I looked through the microscope lens and saw the Shepard staff shaped structure. "I feel like I've seen this somewhere. Maybe I've seen it in one of the textbooks on the visi-tab."
"Maybe you could take a picture of it and take it with you and I could bring it back to our dorm rooms and look it up, do some research." He recommended. "But until we can do that we should probably take a break." He's leaning closer with his eyes closed and tilted his head. Oh my god is he gonna kiss me? When his lips touched mine it felt like a surge of electricity rushed through my body making me freeze. I can feel myself melting into him. I clung my arms into his neck and didn't let go.
Then I pushed him away.
"Is there something wrong? Is it me or my cologne? I knew I should have gone with Old Spice. What was I thinking everybody hates Axe! I am such a..." I cut him off.
"No. It's none of that. Is just that I'm only thirteen and all. I don't know. I've never experienced anything like this before." I said with a raspy voice.
"Oh. I'm so sorry. I knew it was too quick. I just couldn't resist. I really, really like you." It's almost hilarious to hear such a young voice say that to me. In my mind I always imagined myself being in this position in a few years with a muscular matured man.
He was looking at me. I knew he wanted me to like him back but I also knew that he was preparing himself for rejection. So, I took a deep breathe and blurted out,"I really like you too!"
We both smiled at each other with the biggest, dorkiest the smile we could stand without hurting ourself. We embraced each other in a big bear hug.
I don't think I've felt this was since when I was back in Montana. I can feel my heart fighting to get out of my chest again, and this time I know for sure it's love. We froze and stared at one another with wide eyes. His big brown eyes looking into mine, and my big blue eyes into his. We just couldn't look away.
Then Max spoke up,"if this isn't love, then I don't know what it is." He placed his hand on my arm moving it downward to my hip. He pulled me in closer for another kiss. I easily slipped onto his lips wanting more. He grabbed my rear and I place my hand on his chest. Wow! He's muscular! His chest is so hard, but I can still feel his heart fluttering in sink with mine.
Before we knew it, it was ten o'clock and we were up against a table and Max had his shirt off. Eventually we had to stop because we both knew we had class tomorrow.
As I gathered my things and Max put his shirt back on I said, "I guess I'll go back to my dorm and research the shape of the virus to see what family it belongs to. And for you Max, I don't think I with ever forget you in biology class, not after tonight."
"Oh, yeah, I have to get back to my dorm before my roommate gets suspicious and asks questions."
"Okay, I'll close up here and you can go." So he gathered his notes and supplies and left waving goodbye. Before I turned he light off I looked back thinking: This is were my first kiss was. I sighed at this thought because I knew I was in love.
