Phase 2
“Well, now’s your chance.” I grinned as Maliha flushed a brilliant shade of red.
“Now, whose chance is it?” Jeremy asked.
Jeremy was actually fairly good looking. Nothing out of the ordinary though. He was built; being in the military had served him well. He was toned well, tan from head to toe; he had a dark, almost black, brown hair. His eyes were a sparkling grey, it was easy to see why Maliha liked him, yet I didn’t.
“Nothing, nothing at all!”
“Maliha wanted to invite you the king’s ball.”
Maliha gave me death stare, she would thank me later.
“Sure, I’ll go. Only if you let me escort you though.” He said giving Maliha a charming smile. He sure knew how to use his looks to his advantage. Within less than two seconds Maliha was in a fit of giggles and could barely make a coherent sentence. A bright red blush was already creeping up her neck to her face, that poor girl.
“Um-uh, O-of course. I-I-I would lo-ve that.”
“Good because I wasn’t going to take no as an answer.”
Heidi made a face and I made a face right back at her. Things were getting mushy and it was making us both uncomfortable. I think it would be a good time to bail us both out of this misery.
“Well then!” I declared a little loud while clapping my hands. “Heidi and I have some things to do so uh- we’ll leave you two discuss the, um, King’s Party. Bye!”
I grabbed Heidi’s arm and we dashed out of there even though Jeremy and Maliha were barely paying any attention to us. They’re too preoccupied with staring into each others souls with their googley eyes.
We walked along the campus in a comfortable silence for a little bit.
“Thanks for that, they were getting weird.”
“Haha yea, I don’t know why they haven’t already asked each other out. They obviously like one another. If two people like each other, they should at least acknowledge it and take action!” I huffed a little annoyed. Sometimes Maliha and Jeremy seemed to be running in circles- never getting anywhere.
Heidi jerked to a halt. “You really think so?”
I gave her a curious glance. “Yea, I really think so. Are you okay?”
Slowly a blush rose onto her pale skin. I honestly wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t saw it. “Heidi… Do you like someone?”
The blush only intensified as she began to play with the end of her skirt.
“…Yes but I don’t know if he likes me.”
I almost wanted to laugh, but I know that would only embarrass her more. It was just cute that silent and strange Heidi liked someone.
“Well have you asked?”
“No…”
I gave her a huge grin. “Well you’ll never know. Do you want me to ask?”
“No ,no ,no, it’s fine. I couldn’t ask you to do that!”
“You’re not asking. I’m offering besides don’t you want to know if her likes you too?”
Heidi sheepishly looked back down and resumed playing with her skirt. Her, like this, she looked like a normal high school girl, not like the silent and observing Heidi I’ve known.
Maybe love does change a girl?
“So… Are you going to tell me who it is?”
“…”
I gave her a blank stare.
“Is that a yes..?”
“…”
Ok, well this wasn’t getting anywhere.
“Okay, so a no…”
“…”
“Heidi…”
A wind blew past us and two birds flew above while somewhere a kid was screaming his lungs out to get his mom to buy him ice cream.
“Fine, don’t tell me. I’m leaving.”
I turned and walked. 3…2…1, I felt my shirt being tugged.
A smile crept up to my face as I turned around.
“You going to tell me?”
She nodded then took a deep breath.
“It’s…Aristos Evander.”
I felt my stomach drop.
