I wake up to the sound of people talking around me, but I can't tell if it's real or if I'm just imagining it. I open my eyes only to close them again. Jesus, why are these lights so bright?

I open them again; this time they actually stay open. I see Noah and Thiago and his big cup of coffee arguing, per usual. Cancel big, more like ginormous, since as long as I can remember, Thiago has always had a coffee addiction. Next to them is Daya with a murderous look and Jimena sleeping next to her with her head on Daya's lap. And finally I see Gael looking straight at me with a smile on his face.

"Look who's finally up. Sleep well, sleeping beauty?" Gael asks, still smiling.

"Fuck. Right. Off." I say softly with a smile on my face. He responded with a bigger smile on his face. I look around, and my body instantly freezes the moment I recognize where we are when I breathe in the smell of bleach. "Now would one of you please tell me why the hell I'm in a hospital because unless I'm seeing wrong, that's exactly where we are."

"If you were expecting me to let you bleed out, then you're out of your mind. We were one hour from home, and our most trusted doctors weren't close to us. I did what I had to do." Thiago said it was the most obvious thing ever.

"Are you out of your damn mind? They'll ask questions; you do know that, right? How could—" I said before Thiago interrupted me. "You're my sister! And maybe you are right; I acted without thinking of the consequences, but seeing you unconscious on the floor messed with me. So I'm sorry for not listening to you, but I will not apologize for bringing you here because I would do it again if it meant you live." After I killed Leon, Thiago and I got closer; he told me about what happened to his sister. When I was still in Leon's possession, I would see him around the house sometimes. For some reason, being close to him brought me comfort; I felt safe as long as he was there. He was the big brother I never had, and I was the sister he lost.

"Don't interrupt me, and I'm sorry. I get why you brought me here, okay? Thank you so much, big brother, but you do realize how much trouble I can get into. They will ask questions. If they find out I don't have a legal guardian, I'll get put into the system." I responded, wincing after touching my stomach. Fuck, that guy got me good. I hate being injured because it makes me weak and unable to defend myself. I don't ever want to be that weak girl anymore that anyone can take advantage of.

"You'll be fine. I promise we'll figure it out." Thiago said. I just nodded.

"Well, you'll be happy to know I couldn't go on the date with the blond." Noah said to me, breaking the silence.

"Lucky girl." Daya and I said at the same time, which seemed to wake up Jimena.

"You're finally up." Jimena said when she saw me awake before running towards me and hugging me. I wince again because of the pressure on my wound. "Sorry," she said when seeing my reaction.

...
Everyone was on their phones, including me. The only difference is that I'm working while Gael is just watching TikToks and Jimena is stressing about her math homework. After Leon, our first action was to avenge Thiago's sister; we were going to go kill the French don for what he did, but we later found out that it wasn't them but the British who killed her. So we went out with our plan. We killed the Don, but his son filled in his place soon after, and now he is causing problems that aren't necessary. We are staying tops an hour more before leaving, so we wouldn't make it look too suspicious.
