If the freshman could play 9 square everyday they would, but Brody and Natalie would want to play for different reasons

No one POV:
To say their rivalry started with nine square would be close, but not right. It actually started with 9 words. The 9 words they would use to throw each other off and beat each other out. It was actually all thank to Logan and neveah. You see, they were a "power couple" and would tell each other stupid little corny lines.

Well Brody took it upon himself to do the same. With Natalie in the kings square and him one away, as she threw the ball up he announced only loud enough for her to hear..

"You don't realize how gorgeous you are to me"

.. to say it worked would be an understatement, as she froze on the spot and got out. It was a joke obviously, well, a "joke". It was supposed to come off as one and it did, yet there was so much more truth behind those 9 words than natalie realized. Although on Natalie's end it was a fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you. She'd been exposed for having a crush on someone before and was bullied relentlessly for it, she wasn't about to go through all that again, especially not over 9 square. So she worked her way back to the top, well, one away, and with Brody right there, as he threw the ball up, she whispered..

"You don't realize how gorgeous you are to me"

.. and once again, to say it worked would be an understatement. This time though he turned around and threw a fake fist in the air pretending to be upset.

And from that point on that would just mess around with each other every time they played. Their words got deeper, and with that their feelings did too. Each time they said something it was obviously a joke, yet there was so much truth behind each and every single one. The "I love you"'s and the "let me hold you"'s weren't jokes. They were honest confessions of love. And as time went on, they appeared more and more that way. The sincerity slipping into their voices as if they had to get these feeling off their chests. After the rounds were over though, they acted as if nothing had ever happened, like those words were never said, but they were, and no amount of pretending can ever undo the past. It can't undo feelings already felt, words already spoken, and looks already shared. The looks of pure adornment, the ones that said truly said..

"You don't realize how gorgeous you are to me"

..so that's why what happened happened.

Brody POV:

Andy: "just tell her."

Brody: "but at this point what would that even mean? I tell her practically everyday. Even if it's only a joke, what's going to make her think that it's not now? How could I even convince her that those words mean something to me?"

Andy: "then don't tell her... show her"

Brody; "show her?"

Andy: "Show her."

I sat there nervous ticking, trying to come up with something to do, to say, to anything. When do I do it. How do I do it. I can't just kiss her can I?

I walk into P.E. The girls are talking to coach V.

Sofie: "you're not that guy pal. You're not that guy."

Natalie: "I don't see why in the skibbidie Ohio we have to do this. There's not much more school left. We should just play nine square."

V: "no, we need to get this platform lesson done"

Sofie: "What the sigma."

Natalie: "what the freak my guy"

I cannot believe THAT is what I fell for...

We walk into coach's office and take our seats. For a physical education, we really focus on the education part. We'll probably end up doing the physical part once Levi pisses off coach V so much we end up doing a work out circuit. The worst part is that Levi is sitting next to me.

V: "Will you just shut up Levi?! Natalie, you and him switch spots."

Levi: "BUT I DONT WANT TO SIT WITH THE EMOS!"

V: "That or the office. You pick."

Levi reluctantly got up and practically stomped over there. Natalie came and sat down next to me. I knew what to do, it was a matter of having the confidence to do it. But now that I think about it, if I've had the confidence to say everything else. What stopping me now?

Rejection

No. It's fine. If I just say something it'll all be fine. It all has to be fine.

Without another self doubting thought I reach down and grab her hand. I didn't think I even knew what to say but somehow I guess at the right time, the right word are there
