A loud roar wakes you up in the middle of the night. You jolt up, seeing Link already getting dressed to investigate the noise.

"Wait up!"
You say in a hushed and worried voice

Link nods and takes your hand, slipping your shirt from last night over your head. He leans in a gives you a chaste kiss on your cheek before grabbing the Master Sword and his shield before stepping out of the cabin with you scrambling behind him, your sword in hand.

It's a loud night by all means, the roar seems to have upset the animals and even the very wind around you.
Birds caw, bushes rustle, and boars squeal. You shiver at this... unnatural feeling. Your hand gripping the back of Link's tunic, his eyes giving you a comforting look before scanning back into the forest.

Silence...

Silence...

BOOM

An arrow wizzes right past the two of you, embedding itself into a tree right next to your head. You feel the skin of your cheek split, as Link jumps in front of you to stop a second arrow from killing you.

"ARE YOU OKAY Y/N?!" Link yells out behind him, keeping his guard up as arrow after arrow hits his shield.

"Y-Yeah, just a cut. Where are they coming from?!"

"I don't know, keep your eyes out for me."

"O-Okay."

You peek out from behind him and look into the forest.

You look as closely as you can before you spot a sliver of white peeking out from a tree.

"Over there!"
You call out, pointing to the area you spotted the anomaly.
Link nods and charges his blade and launches a ring of pure energy into the woods, cleaving the tree in half.

A surprised animalistic yelp comes out from area, and a group of silver bokoblins jump out from behind a bush. They drop their bows and unsheathe their swords, getting into a low, animalistic stance as they run towards you and Link.

"Y/N, get ready!" Link raises his sword as you raise your own.

Before you could even move an inch, a hidden bokoblin jumps out from your left.
"Ambu-!" The clanking of your swords cut you off, your crooked stance causing the top of your shoulder to be nicked by the tip of the bokoblins blade.

You jump away, putting your distance between both you, the bokoblin, but also Link.

From the corner of your eye, you see Link fighting three at once, leaving just the one for you. You roll your shoulders and exhale, focusing onto you, your blade, and your enemy. You move with the same speed and aggression as you've been taught. You thrust your blade forward, just barely missing it, but you don't let that stop you. With the momentum of the thrust, you swing your blade into the monster and kill it. Panting, you stagger back up and run over to Link as he struggles with the other silver bokoblins. You block  club from hitting Link, and Link blocks a spear from stabbing you. You and Link are stuck, your backs to each other as you try to survive the onslaught of attacks from the beasts. While Link is still fighting strong, it's apparent you're wearing down. Attacks slip through, your movements get slower. While the training you had was amazing, it wasn't enough. Link manages to kill the bokoblin in front of him, but just as he turns around to help you, you slow down too much, and you mess up. You don't feel it at first, but a sharp, cold pain seeps through your stomach. You finish your attack, killing the bokoblin as you fall onto your back, that's when you finally see it. It's the handle of a sword...
It doesn't make any sense to you at first, but it quickly becomes apparent.

You've been stabbed.

Link falls to his knees, scrambling to see your wound
"Y/N Y/N Y/N nononono stay with me, stay with me"
He says breathlessly, looking through his bag to find anything that'll help you

"F-Fai..." You say, unable to breathe

"H-Huh...? Don't... don't say anything... don't waste any energy" He says, you can see the tears in his eyes as he looks harder

"The fairy... bottle... you idiot..."
You say with a weak smile, even like this you know how he can overlook even something as obvious as this.

His eyes blink and he nods, searching until he finds the right bottle. He rips open the cork and the fairy flies out.

The fairy flutters into the cold night sky, looking around it before it eventually flies over to you. It circles around you and examines your wound.
It goes around you faster and faster before you feel warmth seep through you, and you feel your energy return.

With a pained grunt, you pull the sword out and your wounds begin to close.

Link stares at you, tears and pain in his eyes before he tackles you with a hug.

"Y/N... stop... stop scaring me like this..."

"You think I wanna do this?" You smile faintly as you lean into his arms.

"Fair enough." He smiles as well, leaning in to give you a proper kiss this time.

"Think the cabin is still safe to go to...?"

"I think so... this kind of thing has never been reported here before."

"... Carry me back?"

"Deal." He smiles.

The bed felt even warmer that night. Maybe it was the sun rising, or the blankets stacked on you, or maybe it was the fact that Link was practically laying on top of you. He snores softly, making you smile as you hold him just a little bit closer.

"I love you..."
