"Alright, it's all sealed up."

Dante dusted his hands after welding Courtney's broken window later that night.

"That should do for now, until they can replace your window," he said. Courtney sat on her desk chair, brushing her feet to and fro against the wood flooring. When she didn't say anything, he threw her a peek to see that she was staring off into space. "Hey, what is it?"

He walked forward when she stayed quiet, and she swayed under the weight of his hand when he placed it on her shoulder. She blinked, and snapped out of it.

"What?" She asked blankly.

"Are you okay?" He smiled crookedly at her and rose a pierced eyebrow.

"Yeah," she pushed his hand off. "Thanks for fixing the window."

"What's going on with you?" Dante asked, nudging her arm. "You've been distant."

"Not distant, just busy," she brushed off his concern and put her headphones on. "Trying to be a stand up partner, and all."

"That's not everything," Dante insisted with a hand on his hip. "Dani told me something attacked you and that's why your window was broken. Why didn't you say anything?"

"Figured it was common knowledge at this point," Courtney sat on her bed with her laptop in her lap. "Not that it's anyone's business. Surprised you weren't one of the ones to rush into my room that night."

"To hell with them, I'm talking about me and you," he pulled her headphones off her head, of which earned him a warning scowl in return. "Why didn't you tell me? We're actually friends!"

"Because I'm sick and tired of repeating it," she spat, snatching her headset back. "It's been what I've had to think about for the last day straight. Get over the fact that you're not involved. It's none of your business."

"But it's Bakugou's business?" Dante was hurt by her statement. "He doesn't even know you!"

"And you do?" She shoved her laptop away to stand, and jabbed a finger into his chest. "You don't know any better than he does! The only reason he knows anything now is because he's my partner. Call it whatever you want, but it all comes down to shitty timing. If I had it my way, none of you people would be involved in the first place!"

"I'm so sick of that high and mighty bullshit," Dante pinched the bridge of his nose. "You act like you don't need people, but you're still human whether you like it or not, Courtney! You can't brave everything on your own!"

"You don't know what you're talking about," Courtney's tone was mean and dismissive. "You did what you came here for, so why don't you just leave?"

"You're impossible." Dante scoffed, and left her room without another word.

He slammed the door hard enough to shake the walls, and Courtney let out a tight breath. The rage she felt made her head hot, and she didn't know whether to scream or punch something.

She settled with a loud grunt, and stomped back to her bed to face plant onto her pillow. Flashbacks of her nightmare played inside her head, and she grimaced as she rolled over to stare at the ceiling. Her heart beat loud against her ribcage, and her skin itched like it was being pricked with burns. It felt as though she was about to be burnt alive all over again, and as her panic began to increase, so did the rate of her breathing. The hopelessness she felt hurt worse than any physical pain her mind tricked her into feeling, and she feared it may consume her.
