Today is the one year anniversary when my girlfriend and I got together. We met during our freshman year in college, we were dormmates. I still remember when I first met her. Her laying on the carpet floor taking in the odd carpet texture. After she realized I stepped in she quickly sat up, "Oh...Hey there!". I stood there for a moment confused but I still responded, "Um hey...". She stands up and sticks out her hand to shake mine, "I'm Cassie!, or Cass is fine too! Anyname works". I awkwardly shake her hand back, "Deanna...". It felt like we shook hands forever until she let go and decided to give me a room tour even though the room is very small. "Sooo this is all my stuff from home and my posters and my favorite stuffed animal!". She picks up the stuffed cat and hands it to me for me to take, "Her name is Cally!". I grab the cat and admire how soft the fur is and how in good condition the animal is. I go to give it back to her but before I can hand it back to her, she quickly walks away and started showing me all of her things she got for the dorm. 20 minutes go by, "And that's everything! I really hope we can be great friends!", she smiles widely. "Me too". At first, I saw her as a bit weird but a good kind of weird. After a couple of weeks of us hanging out and seeing each other almost everyday, we became insist friends. Time goes by and I slowly start to catch feelings. I started to admire her sky blue eyes sparkling while she talked about another show she is obsessed with. I always had doubts I liked Cassie but what was there not to like? Her smooth hair, beautiful eyes, charismatic personality, I loved everything about her. There was a New Years party that Cassie was invited to and she dragged me along with her, thank god I went. "Come on Deanna, you are gonna have so much fun!" "I don't know anyone here but you". She grabs my hand tightly in her, "So? I guess you will be hanging with me all night". Before you know it, she's dancing on the dance floor, one hand holding a cup full of alcohol and her other hand dragging me along. The DJ yells over the speakers, "Ten seconds till midnight!". Everyone begins to count down, "10!..9!..8!...7!...6!". Cassie grips my hand firmly and turns to me with the biggest smile on her face. Her eyes stare deeply in mine, I smile back. "5!...4!...3!...2!". She places her other hand on my face, my face now in her hand. "1!". Cassie leans in and kisses me. Her soft lips on mine. She pulls away and hugs me, "Happy New Year Deanna!". I'm frozen in shock, she kissed me. My crush kissed me. I slowly hug her back, "Happy New Year Cass-". She smiles at me again and goes to hug her other friends. While everyone was hugging and partying, I'm still standing there on the dance floor flabbergasted on what had just occurred. Cassie is hugging and laughing with friends and I decide to walk up to her to ask about what just happened but as I begin to walk to her, another girl grabs her waist pulling her into a kiss. I stop in my tracks, and quickly turn away. I guess the kiss didn't mean anything to her after all. I uber back to the dorm room and start to cry. I let my feelings get the better of me and I was delusional, Cassie could never like someone like me. After all, I'm just her roommate.

Hours go by and there is still no sign of Cassie. Its 2:00am and I watch as Cassie walks into the dorm and sees me cradled on my bed still wearing my black dress. Cassie flicks on a lamp, "Oh, sorry I didn't notice you were still up". I look at her, my mascara still running down my face. She quickly grabs a tissue and starts to wipe my face, "What's wrong? I tried calling you after you just left. Are you hurt? Are you-". I cut her off and grab the tissue out of her hand, "I'm fine". I get up and start walking towards the door, "I'll be back". She grabs my arm, "There is ZERO way I'm letting you walk out that door. I pull my arm away just for her to grab my arm again with two hands, "Deanna please". I look at her and feel tears starting to form. "...it's nothing really" "Don't pull that "its nothing" crap on me". She lets my arm go, "Did I do something wrong?". I don't respond. "Is this because...I kissed you?". Her eyes water, "I...I didn't mean to cross your boundaries I-" "You didn't cross my boundaries Cass". I look into her eyes, "You didn't do anything wrong its just that...". She looks at me waiting for me to continue. "Its the fact that...I liked when you kissed me". Cassie's eyes widen, "...you did?". "Yes! I loved it, but I know you don't feel the same so it's pointless and I should just leave for the night". Cass was speechless, her face shocked. "Cass...I really like you. When you kissed me, you made me feel like it was just us two on the dance floor but when I realized that you were interested in other people...I decided to leave and to not get in the way of your relationships". Cassie walks up to me and takes my hands in her, "Deanna...you were never in the way. I brought you to that party to hang out with you because I like you Deanna! Ever since we met I knew that we were more than just friends. You mean so much to me Deanna, I kissed you not just because of a stupid party but because I like you...a lot". At this point tears are rolling down my face, "Don't cry". Cass hugs my face in her hands, her thumbs wiping away my tears. "I'm here Deanna". I place my hand on top of hers, comforted by her hand. She inches closer to my face, her lips touch mine. I pull away, and grab her hand. I take her to my bed and make her sit. I sit next to her and kiss her. She kisses back. My hands start wrapping around her waist as we slowly start to lay on the bed. I slowly shift my hands up and down her side, hesitating to go further. She grabs my waist and pulls me closer to her, staring into my eyes approving for me to continue. I move my hands and unzip her dress removing her tight fit dress. She helps me remove my dress and throws it unto the floor. My lips slowly leave her face and make their way to her neck. She places her hands on my waist and she moves her hands lower and lower. I will never forget that night, never. The following morning I wake up with her hands wrapped around my waist, her head on my chest, and her legs on mine. I slowly squish out of her grip to get dressed for the day. As I am grabbing my bra off the floor, a pillow hits my butt, "Ow!". Cass giggles, "Sorry I couldn't resist". I roll my eyes and put back on my bra. Cass lays back down and laughs as I finish getting dressed. I sit on the bed, "So I guess we are...um a couple now?". Cass looks at me dumbfounded, "Of course! I literally saw you naked and made out with you for hours, I think that officially makes me your girlfriend". I laugh and kiss her on the lips. "I'll text you after class". I get up and wave at Cass as I leave the dorm room. It's exactly been one year since that day and I could never be happier.
