Till The End: Chapter 3

          Cassie looks in the mirror holding her purse next to her red dress, "Does this purse match this dress or should I change?". She keeps holding the purse next to her and shifting into different poses to see if the purse suits her perfect figure. I grab her purse and place it gently on her shoulder, "Hon, you look great with or without the purse". She smiles and grabs her things sliding them into her picked out purse. I place my phone and wallet into her purse since I don't usually wear purses, they always seem to be in the way. I look at her heels, "You know those are going to kill your feet right?" "No No~ I'll be fine!" "Whatever you say Hon". Cass and I leave the room and start heading down the stairs towards the front entrance. Our hands interlocked with each other. We walk out the door and make our way towards a nearby restaurant. We are halfway to the restaurant and Cass starts complaining about her heels, "Deanna why didn't you stop me from wearing these darn heels, THEY HURT" "I tried but you insisted in wearing them" "True True but I do look good in these heels" "And that I agree on". Cass stops walking and takes off her heels, "I am taking a few minute break and my feet are KILLING me". I sigh before we go to a bench in a local park. We sit down while Cass tosses her shoes to the ground and sits on the bench and puts her legs onto my legs. I wrap my arm around her, "If only you just wore boots like I did". Cass rolls her eyes, "If only". "While we sit here waiting for you to recover from your awful foot pain, I got a question" "Yeah anything". I tell her that I talked to Jessie and how he was asked if we could have a double date sometime. Cass suddenly jumps up in excitement, "YES DOUBLE DATE". She paces around in front of me and yaps about all the ideas of what to do for a double date, "OH MY GOSH. Imagine this, All four of us go to my cabin a couple of hours from here and have the most partiest party known to man!" "Sounds fun to me babe but when would we even have free time to do all this with classes and well Sam is still in high school for god's sake" "This weekend, tomorrow morning, bright and early. We leave by tomorrow morning, we would get to the cabin by Saturday afternoon then come back by Sunday just in time to get a couple hours of sleep for class the next day". I think about my essay I have due but at this point I could give two fucks about it, "Fuck yeah, we can call em after dinner" "OPERATION DOUBLE DATE IS A GO". Cass grabs her heels and puts them on and runs off towards the restaurant. I swiftly follow behind her, I guess her feet don't hurt anymore.

         We get to the restaurant, the entrance sparkles in lamps and fairy lights. Cass admires the view excitingly while I go up to the front. The hostess looks up from her phone, "Welcome in today! How many in your party today?" "Just two please". She nods and grabs two menus and two napkin roll ups, "Follow me this way please". Me and Cass follow her to a booth, "Our server will be right with you shortly" "Thank you". She walks away. Cass picks up a menu and scans the menu. I pick up my menu and look at all of the options, so many. I could get a burger, salad, Yeah no, or even just chicken tenders. In the corner of my eye I see the waiter walk up to the table, "Welcome you two! My name is Asher and I'll be your server today. What can I get started for you today?". I look at Cassie so she could order first but her eyes are wide. Her eyes are huge, and she seems shocked. "Wait Cass, is that you?", Asher says while looking at Cass. "Asher?" "Oh my gosh hey!". Asher goes in for a hug, and Cass awkwardly hugs back. "I haven't seen you since when? Like highschool?" "Um yeah I guess so heh". I look at the two confused. Asher looks at me, "Oh sorry, you must be confused, me and Cassie knew each other back in the day. Nice to meet you", he sticks out his hand to shake mine, I shake it. "Ohh, my names Deanna". Asher takes his hand away from mine, "How do you two know each other?". Cass shakily speaks, "Oh! Um she's my um... girlfriend actually". Asher has a surprised but supporting facial expression, "Ohhhhh, well I see you upgraded! You two seem cute together". I look at Cassie confused, "What–" "Hehe yeah ok Asher, no need to downgrade yourself now", Cass cuts me off. "Just jokes just jokes, anyhow sorry, what would you two like to drink?". Still confused, I order. "Pink lemonade". Cass puts down her menu, "Um just water please". Asher stops writing in his handbook, "Alrighty coming right up!". Asher walks away. I look at Cass and she seems nervous. "So you two?" "Yeah we uh... dated well you know, years back". We stayed quiet for a bit, "You seem awkward, did it end badly?". Cassie shrugs, "You could say that..." "Oh" "Me and him were together since middle school into high school then we broke up after further plans were made " "Further plans?". She hesitates to speak, she places her hand on her ring and starts fidgeting with it. "His family and my family... wanted us to get married". I'm jaw dropped, "Married? You two were still in high school though" "Yup but my family and his family were the biggest people in the whole town so us two, the children of the richest families getting married would be the biggest thing ever to happen in that town" "Richest? I thought you grow up poor, you said you had barely any money for food some days" "Yeah after I cut contact with them". I go to reach my hands across the table to her but as I go to, a lemonade glass is placed on the table, "And here is your lemonade and your water". He places both drinks down, and opens his handbook, "You guys ready to order?". I open my menu and glance over to Ash, "I'll have the cheeseburger with fries" "For sure, and you Cass?". She looks at the menu, "Um I'll have the meatloaf with a side of mac n cheese". Asher nods as he writes down our orders, "Good choices ladies, I shall be back as quickly as I can with your orders! Enjoy the drinks!". Asher looks at me then looks at Cass, he gives her a big smile. As he walks away, he glances back at Cass and gives her a friendly wink. I was tempted to stand up and grab him by the collar and ask why he was winking at MY girlfriend but my thought is interrupted by Cass reaching her hands and pulling mine to hers. "Look Deanna, I didn't tell you about this because I wanted to leave that part of my life behind me. It was a rocky time but I don't think about that stuff anymore. I'm happy, here with you. After this weekend we can talk about Asher and you can ask me whatever questions you please". I squeeze her hands, "I don't need all the answers from you, we have our whole lives ahead of us. I understand pushing things in the past". Cassie smiles and kisses my hand, "I love you" "I love you too".
