Pain Split

"This will be a three-on-three battle between Challenger Satoshi and Gym Leader Sabrina." The referee called between the two trainers. Sabrina pushed her hands through her hair, tying a hair tie through it to form a short ponytail. Her eyes and palms glowed a soft cyan and a Pokeball levitated forward, opening on the ground. A Kadabra burst from it. Ash threw his Pokeball, releasing Neptune.

The Kadabra lifted a spoon, shooting a Psybeam with little time for argument. The Squirtle retreated into his shell, spinning around to deflect the attack. "Rapid Spin- then Bite!" Ash yelled.

Neptune leapt into the air, spinning at a high speed as Kadabra put up a Reflect. Neptune landed against the magenta and blue chromatic barrier of light and went through it to land the bite. Kadabra hissed in pain and shot a close-ranged Psybeam back at Neptune, who was thrown aside into the wall. Neptune did a flip midair as he dodged the next Psybeam.

"Now! Neptune- Shell Smash, then the rapid spin, bite combo."

The Squirtle grinned, using a quick Water Gun to deflect another of Kadabra's attacks, parrying it. A light surrounded Neptune and it moved much quicker along the ground, spinning along the battlefield before crashing against the Kadabra, and landing a close-ranged bite. The Kadabra wobbled a little before the Psi Pokemon groaned and landed backwards, unconscious.

"Kadabra is unable to battle! Send out your next Pokemon, Gym Leader Sabrina!" The referee called. Sabrina returned Kadabra with a flick of her wrist. She sent out a Mr. Mime next. The pink Pokemon looked up, miming some walls and creating another Reflect. Neptune spun to attack the Mr. Mime, who easily watched the movements of the blue turtle and froze the Pokemon, flinging it into the wall.

"Squirtle is unable to battle." The referee looked back at Ash, who returned the Pokemon. Ash threw his next Pokeball, releasing Kai. The Dragonair flicked his tail. Will immediately sat up, watching the fluid movements of the Dragonair- similar to the ones he had seen around Blackthorn before. The Psychic Elite Four member watched the Pokemon carefully.

Steven watched on. What was his plan for using Kai against the Mr. Mime?

"Kai- I'll leave you to it." Ash ordered, folding his arms. Kai nodded back to him, cooing softly before snarling at the Mr. Mime. He shot forward- using Extreme Speed to land against the barrier Mr. Mime had put up. Kai flicked his tail in annoyance, using Thunder Wave on the Mr. Mime, who slowed down considerably with the Psychic attacks he was using against the elegant Dragonair.

Mr. Mime tried to chuck a large rock with Psychic, but it was sliced clean in half with an Aqua Tail from Kai, who spun from the attack to fly behind the Mr. Mime. Kai used a Dragon Pulse on the dirt in front of Sabrina, causing a large amount of dirt to kick up and block the view. Kai flew through his little homemade smoke bomb. After a few moments of crashes and calls, the cry of Mr. Mime combined with an unceremonious thud betrayed the outcome of the match.

"Mr. Mime is unable to battle! Leader Sabrina, release your final Pokemon." The referee called, raising a hand in her favour. An Alakazam emerged from the blue light.

Slam.

Kai was out senseless. Ash gaped at the Alakazam. A light crimson glow surrounded the Pokemon- and Sabrina's eyes were alit with power. Her breathing was unsteady and shaky. She looked on, gesturing for him to release his final Pokemon. Gesturing for Pinwheel.

He recalled Kai, and released Mica.

"And here I am, to take the stage! My first gym battle, after my longing waiting alongside Haruka of Maiden's Peak." Mica called, as the referee gaped while the Gastly flipped through the air, taking the form of a Spearow, then a Fearow, then a Ho-Oh, then back to the sapphire Gastly form she was used to. "Anger pulses through you because your intent is clouded by the echoes of the person you once were. Spirits bound to objects, forever to your whims!"
