"What? They accepted the idea of a duo debut?" I asked, bright eyed.
Beomgyu just nodded at me.
"Well, you're our best female trainee. Yeonjun is our best male trainee. Soloists die out quickly if there isn't a spark. So, you two just need to create a performance for the board," Beomgyu explained.
Why did he look so upset about that?
"I thought they were trying to find someone to debut with you?"
"Oh, they were. I suggested a trio but they turned me down. You'd get too much hate." He said simply, eyes glossing over as he pulled me back into a hug.
"But then I have to share you."
I laughed softly through raw tears, "it's barely sharing. Yeonjun's just my friend. You know that."
"I know. I trust you." His hands gripped me ever so slightly tighter, before Yeonjun burst into the room, as I automatically split away.
Yeonjun's eyes rushed over me, walking over.
"Did you get it? The news? Y/N, you're gonna debut-"
"Hold your horses," Beomgyu said calmly, "it's just a maybe. There's nothing for certain."
"A maybe is a better start than a no," Yeonjun spat back.
They stared at each other with such venom. I wondered what had happened since I had been gone.
"Okay, but that doesn't change the fact me and you need to create a whole performance, Jun." I said, looking at Yeonjun.
He grabbed my hands, "I know just the song. We used to have a dance to it when we were younger."
My eyes widened. "Right! That's perfect, actually. Back when we both did dance? That's so smart!"
Beomgyu looked at us with envy. Why did he get to hold you, to touch you so easily and publicly.
It annoyed him to his core.
So me and Yeonjun practiced to a torturous extent. It kept my mind off things. An escape from the misery of my life.
A temporary fix.
That, and Beomgyu's cooling touch... everything was so bittersweet.
And too perfect.
