I took a deep breath and knocked on the door to Caleb's apartment. Though Glen had made an excuse for the lunch, I wasn't sure how Caleb would react. He opened the door to let me in and I gave him a small smile, which he returned.
"Hey, Caleb," I said softly. "How are you?"
"Good," he said quietly. "And you?"
"Good." I walked in and sat down at the counter, atop which a pizza box sat. He sat down across from me and offered me a slice before taking one for himself. We ate in silence for a few minutes before Caleb cleared his throat and looked at me.
"So, do you care to explain what happened the other day?" he asked inquisitively.
"Glen and I were just getting into character, like he said." As much as I hated what Glen had said about Caleb and my relationship, I hated even more how Caleb acted when he got jealous.
"Y/N," he said. "I know you well enough to know when you're lying."
"I don't know why you can't trust me," I said frustratedly.
"I don't know why you give me reasons not to trust you," he shot back.
"Caleb, look," I said, sighing. "I said I was sorry multiple times."
When he didn't say anything I added, "And if it makes you feel any better, Glen and I won't be spending time together outside of work anymore."
"I don't know if I believe you, Y/N."
I took his hand in mine and looked him in the eye. "Caleb, I love you."
He smiled. "I love you, too, Y/N."
"And I'm sorry, I really am."
He leaned forward and kissed me.
"It's okay, Y/N."
When he finished eating, he stood up and washed his hands.
"I have to head back to work," he told me. "Lunch break's over."
We said our goodbyes and I watched as he walked out the door, leaving me alone with my thoughts. There was one that stood out from the rest.
Having Caleb's hand in mine didn't feel half as good as Glen's had.
I took out my phone to text Kendall.

Kendall stared at me, her jaw fallen, after I finished telling her about the past two days.
"Holy shit," she said, still shocked.
Once everything had finished sinking in, she asked, "So, when you start shooting in two months, what's it going to be like between you and Glen?"
"Strictly professional," I replied promptly.
"Right," she said, not quite believing me.
"Has he texted you since then?"
"He texted me a few times this morning, but I didn't check the texts."
Or rather I hadn't been able to, because of Caleb.
"Girl!" she exclaimed. "You have to."
I sucked in air through my teeth. "Fine," I said, taking out my phone.
***
Glen
Y/N, I'm so sorry for overstepping earlier. It wasn't my place to say anything. I really didn't mean to question your relationship or hurt your feelings. I hope you can forgive me.
Friends?
***
"Do I reply?" I asked Kendall.
"You have to, Y/N," she said.
***
Y/N
i forgive you, glen. of course we're still friends.

"How do you think Caleb's going to react to all the steamy scenes in Love at First Fight?" Kendall asked.
I sighed. "Probably not well, but he has to understand that we're just acting."
"Y/N," she said. "What's going on between you and Caleb? You used to be practically attached at the hip."
"Nothing's going on," I replied defensively.
"Okay," she said, sounding unconvinced.
I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket and took it out. I sighed when I saw who the text was from.
Holding up my phone to show Kendall, I said, "Look who it is."
"Well," she said expectantly. "What did he say?"
***
Glen
Why don't you let me buy you dinner at y/f/r to make up for what I said?
***
"Are you going to go?" Kendall asked.
"I promised Caleb we wouldn't hang out outside of work."
"Y/N," she said, her face turning serious. "Can I ask you a question?"
I nodded.
"Do you want to get dinner with Glen?"
When I didn't answer, she said, "Because if the answer's 'yes', you're not doing yourself nor Caleb any favors by pretending it's not."
The answer is "yes" I thought, and I could tell Kendall could see it on my face.
"But," I said. "What do I tell Caleb?"
"Don't tell him anything."
I hesitated.
"And if he asks just say a producer set it up."
"Is lying to Caleb really a good idea?"
"Do you remember what happened around this time last year?"
"I don't," I said, confused.
"Caleb and Lily, Y/N."
"Oh," I said, in painful realization. It had been around this time last year that Caleb had cheated on me with his ex.
"I know Caleb has changed and how sorry he was, but he still lied to you for months."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I remembered how hurt I'd been at the time.
"I'll go to dinner with him," I decided. "It's perfectly innocent."
Kendall smiled and I started typing out a message.
