It was a bright, sunny day in the mortal realm and the sun shone brightly, penetrating through the Puqi shrine. The warm glow bringing contentment and peacefullness. Xie Lian sits up in a sleepy state and wakes to see a ray of sunlight casted inside the shrine which draws his attention to the entrance where Hua Cheng is brushing a pile of leaves away from the shrine with a broom, a dazed smile on his lips before he hears the rustling of Xie Lian's robes. His dazed expression is broken with an energetic grin.
"Good morning, Gege...did you sleep well?"
Xie Lian smiles back softly, stretching after his long nap.
"Yes, thank you...the little one's still sleeping though."
Xie Lian adopted y/n a year ago when she ascended to the heaven realm alone, a five year old. He was ordered to look after y/n by the heavenly court as this kind of ascension was an anomaly in the heavens for a child so young.
Xie Lian looks down at y/n, poking her cheek gently in an attempt to wake her. She doesnt budge. He sighs and rocks her a bit.
"Y/n...wake up..."
Nothing.
"Y/n..."
Honk shoo mimimimimi
"Y/n...I've made you breakfast."
She tosses a bit.
Hua Cheng looks over, smirking a bit.
"Gege...did you say you made breakfast?"
Y/n then jolts awake, sitting up immediately, looking around panicked and sweating in her bed (which was just some straw on the floor). Y/n sighed in relief when she found out that Xie Lian did not cook, there wasnt a fire, and the shrine had not spontaniously combusted from the deadly side effects of Xie Lian trying to cook.
Xie Lian looks at her frantic state and sighs, offended.
"Its...not...that bad.." Xie Lian mutters.
No. It wasnt bad, it was awful. The problem was, that Crimson Rain guy always pretends like its the best food he's ever had...what a simp. But y/n tries to be polite about it because thats what she's always been told to do...by getting a flick on the forehead or a nudge with Hua Cheng's elbow or a straight up death glare (causing nightmares for days on end) if she gagged or made a sour expression while eating Xie Lian's cooking.
Anyway
It was about time that Xie Lian and y/n had to report back to the heaven realm about Banyue Pass.
