Lily pov

The day started like any other, but by lunchtime, my head was spinning with excitement. I had just gotten an email that would change my summer plans completely. I ran to the lunchroom, where Mia was sitting with a group of friends. I could barely contain my excitement as I slid into the seat next to her.

"Mia, you're not going to believe this!" I blurted out.

Mia looked up from her sandwich, her eyes narrowing in curiosity. "What's up?"

"I just got an email about a summer internship. I got it!" I practically shouted. My hands were shaking as I pulled out my phone to show her the message.

Mia's eyes widened, and she leaned in closer to read the email. "Wow, that's amazing, Lily! In Germany? That sounds incredible!"

I nodded, grinning from ear to ear. "Yes! I'll be working at this art studio in Berlin. It's a big deal for me. I'm so excited, but also kind of nervous."

Mia's face broke into a big smile. "You have to go! It sounds like the perfect opportunity."

As the lunch period went on, I couldn't help but talk about it with everyone. My excitement was contagious, and soon, the whole table was buzzing about the amazing chance I'd been given. Mia and I started planning how we could make the most of this experience.

"I've been thinking," Mia said as we walked out of the school building together. "If you're going to Germany for the summer, I'd love to come with you. It could be an adventure!"

I was taken aback but thrilled by the idea. "That would be amazing! I'd love for you to come. It would make the experience even better."

We spent the rest of the afternoon imagining what our summer would be like. We talked about exploring Berlin, trying new foods, and soaking up as much art and culture as we could. It was exciting to think about all the possibilities.

The last day of school arrived quickly. The halls were filled with students chatting about their summer plans and teachers handing out final grades. The school had organized a party to celebrate the end of the year, and the atmosphere was filled with a mix of excitement and relief.

The gym was decked out with colorful streamers and balloons. Music played from the speakers, and there were tables full of snacks and treats. Mia and I wandered around, chatting with friends and enjoying the festive atmosphere.

I felt a bit out of place amidst the celebrations, still buzzing from the news of the internship. But the party was a great way to wrap up the school year. Everyone was in high spirits, and it was nice to take a break from all the stress and just have fun.

As the party went on, I found myself talking to my parents about the summer internship. We were sitting together at a table, and I could tell they were curious about the details.

"So, tell us more about this internship in Germany," my mom said, her eyes sparkling with interest.

I took a deep breath and started explaining. "It's at an art studio in Berlin. I'll be working with other artists and learning new techniques. It's a great opportunity for me to grow as an artist."

My dad nodded, looking impressed. "That sounds like a fantastic opportunity. But you know, it's going to be a big change. Have you thought about how you'll handle everything?"

I had thought about it a lot. "I have. I'll be busy, but I'm ready for the challenge. Plus, Mia wants to come with me, so I won't be alone. We'll make the most of it."

They seemed to warm to the idea, although I could tell they had some reservations. My mom looked thoughtful. "Well, if you think you're ready for it, then we support you. Just make sure you stay on top of everything here."

"I will," I assured her. "And I'm planning to make it work with my other commitments."

After the party, I had one more thing on my mind: my driver's license. I had been studying and practicing for weeks, and the driving test was coming up soon. I had put in a lot of effort to make sure I was ready.

The day of the test finally arrived. I was a bundle of nerves as I drove to the DMV. My mom came with me for support. We sat in the waiting area, and I kept trying to calm my racing heart.

When my name was called, I followed the examiner to the car, feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety. The test itself was a blur of turns, parallel parking, and checking mirrors. I tried to stay focused, reminding myself of everything I'd learned.

When we finally pulled back into the parking lot, I waited anxiously for the results. The examiner returned and handed me my test sheet. "Congratulations, you passed," she said with a smile.

I felt a huge wave of relief and joy. I thanked her and practically skipped out of the DMV. My mom gave me a big hug, and we celebrated with a small treat on the way home.

The day ended with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation. With the internship in Germany on the horizon and my driver's license in hand, I felt like I was on the brink of a new adventure. The summer break was approaching quickly, and there was a lot to look forward to. I spent the last few days of school tying up loose ends and preparing for the exciting months ahead. I couldn't help but think about how everything was coming together. The school year had been full of challenges and growth, and now I was ready for the next chapter of my journey. The summer was going to be full of new experiences, and I couldn't wait to dive into it.
