Ella's POV.

Hours seemed to pass in a blur of sensations and emotions. When we finally lay side by side, our breaths slowing, I felt a profound sense of peace and contentment. Leah turned to me, her eyes filled with love and vulnerability.

"I've wanted this for so long," she confessed, her voice barely a whisper. "But I was afraid it would scare you away."

I reached out, tracing the outline of her face with my fingers. "I was scared too," I admitted.
"Scared of what it meant, scared of losing you.
But now, I can't imagine being anywhere else."

She smiled, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "I'm so glad you feel that way."

We lay there in the dim light, holding each other, our hearts beating in sync. The future was still uncertain, and there would be challenges ahead. But for the first time, I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be.

With Leah by my side, I knew I could face anything. And as we drifted off to sleep, wrapped in each other's arms, I felt a deep, abiding sense of hope for what lay ahead.

I woke up to the soft light of morning filtering through the curtains, feeling a warmth and comfort that I hadn't known in a long time. Leah's arm was draped over me, her body pressed close, and I could feel the steady rise and fall of her breath against my back. For a moment, I just lay there, savouring the quiet intimacy of the moment.

Eventually, I turned over to face her. Leah's eyes fluttered open, and she gave me a sleepy smile. "Good morning," she murmured, her voice husky from sleep.

"Good morning," I replied, feeling a rush of affection as I reached out to brush a strand of hair from her face.

We lay there for a while, tangled together in the sheets, enjoying the quiet closeness. But as the minutes ticked by, I sensed a change in Leah's demeanor. She seemed more distant, her smiles not reaching her eyes. She pulled back slightly, looking at me with a mixture of confusion and concern.

"Ella, we need to talk," she said softly, her fingers tracing patterns on my arm.

My heart sank, the worry in her voice dispelling the morning's warmth. "What's wrong?"

Leah took a deep breath, her eyes searching mine. "I'm just... confused. Last night was amazing, but it felt like it came out of nowhere. One minute, you're unsure about your feelings, and the next, we're... here. We've been best friends for years, and nothing, then suddenly you want to jump into bed with me."

I swallowed, trying to gather my thoughts. "I know it seems sudden. But last night, everything just clicked. Being with you felt right in a way I've never experienced before."

She nodded, but her expression remained uncertain. "I'm glad you felt that way. But I don't want you to rush into something because it's convenient or because you're trying to move on from Josh."

I shook my head, feeling a pang of frustration and hurt. "Leah, it's not like that. I've been struggling with my feelings for a long time. Last night wasn't about convenience; it was about finally being honest with myself."

She sighed, her fingers tightening around mine. "I believe you, Ella. But you have to understand, this is a lot for me too. I've had feelings for you for so long, and I'm scared that you're acting on impulse, that you might regret it later."

I felt tears prickling at the corners of my eyes. "I won't regret it, Leah. I promise. I want to explore this with you, to see where it leads. But if you're not ready, if you need more time, I understand."

Leah's eyes softened, her thumb brushing away a tear that had escaped down my cheek. "I just need to know that you're sure, Ella. That you're not doing this because you feel pressured or confused."
