Nova sat on her bed scrolling through her feed on Instagram feed, she stumbled upon a photo that made her heart plummet.

Nova felt her chest tighten as she stared at the image, trying to make sense of the emotions swirling inside of her. She had to be complacent with Ethan moving on from their relationship, but seeing it blatantly on social media still hurt.

Tears welled up in Nova's eye as she clicked through more photos of Ethan and his new girlfriend. They looked so happy together, their smiles radiant and eyes sparkling with love. Nova couldn't help but feel jealously mixed with a deep sense of sadness.

She closed her phone and tossed it aside, feeling overwhelmed by wave of emotions crashing over her. She thought she could trust him with her heart. She gave love a try for what she thought was the first time but she wanted this to be her last.

Nova's phone buzzed with a notification, it was her best friend, Leila.

Just then there was a knock my bedroom door. I look up to see Leila, she had a flash of concern on her face. Without saying a word I pull her into a tight hug.

"I saw the picture, I'm sorry Nova." She whispered to me, her voice was calm and filled with sympathy. My eyes were welling up in my eyes, I just pull Leila close and cry into her shoulder. I didn't how I would even be here without Leila.

I slide down the wall as Leila lowered down to my level. "Do you wanna talk about it Nova?" She asked me gently. I nod wiping my tears. "I came across the photo when I was on instagram. This is how I found out.. I didn't wanna find out this way Leila." Leila looks at me and holds my hand "you are so strong Nova..I know this a hard time but you will find someone that'll sweep you off your feet. You deserve so much more my love."

I sat on the bed, staring out the window glaring at the rain that poured down outside. I couldn't shake this feeling of guilt that settled in my stomach like a heavy stone. It had been growing ever since Ethan and I started dating, and it now threatened to consume me even more as I scroll through the comments on instagram.

It was a happy feeling meeting Ethan. We talked about our similarities and hanged out constantly but something held a weight on me. It was Nova. Something I couldn't ignore even if I tried.

I didn't know about Nova until one night he told me about her but I still made decision after decision that is now weighing on my conscience. She was one that Ethan had dated for almost a year. I heard about how devastated Nova had been when Ethan ended things with her. All because of me. Why did he take me on those dates, why was he such a good kisser. Nova. He did all these things with her first.

I knew how she cried endlessly, and yet, Here was Ethan, smiling and holding my hand like nothing ever happened between those two. It felt like a betrayal I was playing apart of, I felt apart of Nova's pain for some reason. Was I just his placeholder?

Talking to Ethan about it made it feel like I was talking to air. He filled me with a bunch of empty reassurances but I wanted more, Was this really what he wanted? Did he want me?

As I sat there I hear a creek of footsteps along the tile floor, I see Ethan peak his head into the crack of the door. "You okay baby?" He moves towards me with a worried look plastered across his face. I sighed softly and let it spill out, all of these doubts and fears. "Ethan I love being with you but I just can't shake this feeling, knowing how much Nova loved you and how fast you just moved on...it doesn't feel right."

I notice him being taken aback, his eyes searched mine to find the pan of guilt of I felt "Tara. I promise I'm not using you to get over Nova. What we have is real, Don't doubt that."

I felt a flicker of hope at his words, but I still saw her in the back of my mind crying at the thought of me holding Ethan the way she once held him or me kissing him the way she once did. I wondered if I was going to find peace in this but I was unsure. I didn't know.
