CHAPTER 3: BLACKOUT WEDNESDAY
Previously:
"Hey, Eve got last shift so it's only fair. Besides it's my birthday how can you ask the birthday girl to not drink a cocktail or two? That's just criminal!" I fake offended. Evelyn laughs at my acting and Azazels facial expression.
"I really can't win tonight can I?" He leans back against the headboard and sighs with his eyes closed. Evelyn and I both look at each other and say at the same time,
"NOPE!" and burst into laughter.
***********************************************************************************************
The night of the party arrives, and the moon hangs low in the sky, casting a soft, eerie glow over the neighborhood. The rare full-blood moon, as Evelyn had mentioned, is the talk of the town. My mom told me I had to be back home by midnight, that way I would be in a safe and calm place once my full powers kicked in.
David's house is alive with the buzz of excitement, and as we arrive, we can already hear the distant thump of music and the clinking of glasses.
"Here we go," Evelyn says, trying to be heard over the noise. "Let's see what David has cooked up this time."
Azazel, looking both amused and apprehensive, glances at me. "I hope you're ready for this. You know David's parties are never just ordinary."
"I'm always ready for free booze and bad decisions," I reply with a grin, adjusting my outfit. I'm wearing a red cocktail dress that perfectly accentuates my full figure and cleavage. Black platform heels elevate my 5'2" frame, helping me see and be seen. My long snow-white hair is styled in a messy yet charming ponytail. I've kept my jewelry and makeup simple: gold bangles, a watch passed down from my grandmother, and a sharp fox eyeliner that enhances my blood-red eyes, making them both striking and seductive. Smoothing out my "Birthday Girl" sash, I look at him and say,
"And hey, it's my birthday. We're making the most of it!"
We push open the front door, and the scene inside is exactly what we expected: a vibrant mix of lights, music, and people. David is in the center, proudly wearing a party crown and enthusiastically welcoming guests.
"Welcome, welcome!" David shouts over the music, spotting us and waving us over. "So glad you could make it! Are you ready to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moon with me?" Giving me a wink.
"Yeah, yeah," I shout back with a laugh, giving him a quick hug. "But don't think you can distract me from the fact that this is my birthday too!"
David grins. "Oh shit, that's awesome! Well, then I promise, from now on the party's for both the moon and you. Oh, and I have a surprise later that you are going to love! Now, grab a drink, and let's get this party started!" He finished with a mischievous grin.
"Oh boy, I can't wait!" <<The last party was a luau, and fire dancers showed up, so I wonder what he got this time.>> I think to myself as we make our way to the bar area, where a mix of colorful cocktails and punch bowls awaits. Azazel is already eyeing the open bar with a resigned smile. Evelyn and I start making our selections while Azazel leans against the counter, clearly bracing himself for the night.
"So, what's the plan?" Evelyn asks, handing me a bright blue cocktail.
"Dance, drink, and PARTY!" I exclaim.
"Sounds about right," Evenlyn replies, taking a sip. "And if Azazel gets stuck with mom duty, well, he can handle it. Right, AzzAzz?"
Azazel shoots her a mock glare. "Yeah, yeah. I'll handle it. But only if you two don't go too wild. I'd like to make it home in one piece."
