Chapter 11: Who's the Real Hunter Here?

Previously:

When I reach the lake it's huge, and I can barely see the other side. The water is crystal clear allowing you to see the very bottom and the hundreds of tiny fish swimming around.

<<This is the perfect place for an ambush.>> I think to myself. I lay down on my chair and put on my sunglasses. I close my eyes and focus on the beast. He's directly behind me now, hiding in the bushes.

<< Well then, I guess stage two is a go. Boy, you're about to become putty in my hands.>> I think as I begin to relax.

3rd POV:

Reclining on a plush lounge chair, she savored the warmth of the sun on her skin. The red bathing suit she wore clung to her curves with a subtle elegance, its gold metal rings catching the light and glinting seductively. From her relaxed pose, it was clear she was completely at ease, a picture of effortless beauty.

Her sunglasses shielded her eyes, but she could feel the weight of someone's gaze, intense and focused. The target was hiding behind a bush not far away, his presence betraying his position with the slightest rustling of leaves. With a lazy stretch, she adjusted her position on the chair, her movements deliberate and slow, designed to draw attention without seeming overt.

She reached for her sunblock, slowly and deliberately applying it to her skin. Her posture remained relaxed, as she finished applying the lotion, but her mind was sharply tuned to the faintest sign of movement.

A soft, playful laugh escaped her lips, a sound intended to lure and disarm. She leaned back further, adjusting her sunglasses slightly, just enough to offer a glimpse of her eyes. The effect was calculated: an impression of carefree enjoyment mixed with an alluring invitation.

The bush rustled again, and she felt a thrill of anticipation. The target was close, perhaps even within reach. She let her gaze wander over the surrounding area, her expression one of idle curiosity, all while maintaining the façade of complete relaxation.

"Such a beautiful day," she murmured, her voice carrying just enough to suggest she was talking to herself—or to the observer she hoped would make a move. "It would be a shame to waste it."

As she spoke, she subtly shifted her position to face the bush more directly, her body language inviting yet unthreatening. The target would have to reveal himself soon, unable to resist the lure of her unassuming charm. In her mind, she was already prepared for the moment when the hidden observer would finally step into the open, unguarded and vulnerable.

Astrid POV

<<Sigh, looks like I'll have to pull out the big guns. This guy sure is stubborn.>> I think slightly annoyed. <<Humm. Well, I haven't sung in a while. Maybe that'll get him to come out.>> Thinking as I stand up and walk towards the edge of the lake.

After some thought, I finally think of the perfect song <<Hehe, we are in a supernatural world, and I'm getting a 'Twilight' vibe right now. So, prepare to fall head over heels for me.>> and I start to sing "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri while splashing and twirling in the water.

Heart beats fast, colors and promises

How to be brave? How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?

But watching you stand alone

All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

I have died every day waiting for you
