Lily Harrington, Steve Harrington's younger sister has been a senior at Hawkins High for a few months now. When everyone at school (except for her teachers) expected her to follow her brother's path, Lily would rather hang out with her friends, including the "nerds and freaks" of Hawkins High.
She never wanted to follow her brother's path, to be a popular girl or a cheerleader especially if it meant for her to only be seen as "King Steve's" little sister. Don't get her wrong, she loves her brother, it's just that she wants to exist by herself, not through Steve and everything that comes with it.
As for her friends, she shares most of them with her brother who claimed a few months ago that he was the "babysitter" of the youngest ones who just got into high school.
Lily happened to babysit them along with Steve but she never understood why he would sometimes ask her not to come with him, saying that "he had stuff to do with the boys" but when she saw the boys a few days later, none of them seemed to agree on what they had truly done, she found it suspicious.
Or when Steve says he has "business to take care of" and goes missing for a few hours if not days, like that night in the autumn of 84 when he came back home with a bruised and injured face. He told her that he had met Billy on the way back home after his date with Mary and fought with him, Lily wasn't buying that.
Lily is well aware of the fact that Steve keeps some things for himself but honestly, who doesn't keep things away from their family? So she wasn't mad at him, as long as he came home safe, she was okay with whatever business he was involved into. But that was before knowing what the so called "business" was.
As Spring Break begins, she starts working at the town's library. She wants to hangout with her friends and come home later than usual. But that was before a Hawkins High student got gruesomely murdered at trailer park. From now on, Steve wants his little sister to be home early every night so that nothing bad can happen to her.
Lily always blamed Steve of being an overprotective brother but wasn't he right on that one ?
Steve is indeed an overprotective brother, so much that he had been keeping the whole upside down situation away from Lily. He thought that this secret could be forever kept away from his little sister until one night, the night that'll force him to tell her everything, the night that will change Lily's life forever...
