PART FIVE
ENDURE AND SURVIVE

(Mentions of suicide in his chapter,
please read carefully)

THE FEELING OF misha's arms wrapped around you gave you some sort of comfort, the gun that was being aimed at you was from an adult— Ellie had her hands held up and so did you.

"Joel!" Misha shouts as Joel awakens from his sleep, turning around to see a child in front of him with his gun aimed at him.

"Eyes on me. Eyes on me." The man says to Joel as he kept his gun aimed at you and misha. "You don't have to worry about what to say. We don't wanna hurt you. We wanna help you."

"Okay." Joel replies.

"Okay, um..." The man also says. "I don't know what the next step is with something like this, but if I lower my gun, we didn't hurt you, so you don't hurt us. right?"

Joel doesn't say anything but he nods, still staring. "That's right."

"That's a weird fuckin' tone, man." The man says.

You quickly interrupted. "That-- that's just how he sounds. like literally, it's a natural thing."

"Yeah, he just has an asshole voice." Misha added as Ellie nodded in agreement. "Joel, tell him he's okay."

"Everything is great." Joel replies.

"Dude!" Ellie exclaimed.

"Okay...listen. I'm gonna trust you." The man continues as he lowers his gun. He then turns to the younger boy and signs in sign language.

Misha watched since he was good with sign language himself, his eyes watching their hand movements.

"But if either of you guys try anything..." the man keeps his gun aimed at you, ellie, and misha. "Yeah?"

"Yeah." Ellie nods quickly.

"Can I sit up?" Joel asks.

The man nods in answer. "Yeah. Slow. Get up slow."

Joel slowly gets up. "Who are you?" He asks.

"My name's Henry." Henry introduces himself. "That's my brother, Sam. I'm the most wanted man in Kansas City. Although right now...my guess is you're running a close second."

You sit next to misha as you munched on your sandwich, misha was eyeing Sam curiously, he wondered if he could communicate with Sam— only if the younger kid wasn't scared of him.

"Where'd you get these?" Henry asks.

"From bill." Ellie answers. "He's dead."

Misha looked at her with furrowed brows and ellie shrugs, he face palms himself and shakes his head. Misha wasn't really hungry at the moment so he grabbed a paper towel and wrapped it around his sandwich before handing it over to Sam.

Sam takes it and then turns to Henry, gesturing to misha.

"He says thank you." Henry tells misha.
