Mei, for the nth time in a row, was surprised by your sudden appearance after you had seemingly popped out of nowhere right in front of her eyes. She had screamed upon being startled — almost dropping the console she was playing on just seconds before.
It's like you made a habit out of scaring everyone with your casual teleporting, really.
After she had made sure her console was okay, Mei sighed in relief and turned to you cheerfully. A grin hung on her face from where she sat on the steps to her house.
"Hey, Y/n! What brings you here today?"
You blink, then, remembering you hadn't disclosed your plan to defeat Lady Bone Demon to MK's squad as of yet, smiled.
"Well, I wanted to ask if I could borrow your... weapon room, for a second."
"Weapon room? Hold on, what do you need it for? Are you... going to make weapons?"
You shake your head with a small laugh.
"Well, not really. I'm not a smith or a craftsman. I simply need the furnace in your weapon room to infuse my sword with some materials I found the other day."
Mei gapes, jumping up from her seat and grasping both your hands in hers, almost making you drop the crimson flower you were holding in your palms.
"You can do that?! Can you infuse my sword too? This one?" She nearly shoves the Jade Dragon Blade in your face, which you push away with a hesitant smile.
Then, seeing you fumble with the herb, she immediately shifts her attention to the sparkling flower.
"Wait, isn't that the crimson jimson weed? I thought Sandy used the only one last time to brew tea to cure MK's hiccups?"
You let her touch the petals of the weed, which almost seems to flutter and gleam even more under her touch.
How endearing, really, that she's paying so much attention to a flower that Celestial beings otherwise wouldn't take a single glance at.
"I... am the Goddess of Immortality, after all. I can't say I'm its creator, but the fact that they now possess healing powers is due to me channelling some of my life energy into these flowers."
Mei's expression widens further, her awe and admiration showing clearly through every single feature on her face.
Now that her face is barely inches away from yours, you finally find the resemblance she possesses to Ao Lie — the expression they show whenever they spot something out of the ordinary with you.
