STEVE'S BMW PULLED INTO THE LIPTON DRIVEWAY THE NEXT MORNING.

After finding out the truth about Chrissy's death—how Eddie wasn't a murderer, and was more so a victim a traumatic events. How a creature was behind everything weird that the Munson had seen; Vecna—the group left Reefer Rick's boathouse with the promise they would return the next day with more information.

The drive home was quiet. The only chatter was the shallow goodbyes given when Steve dropped Max back at the trailer park—which seemed even more eerie now that they know what went down—and Dustin and Robin back at their places.

Carla called her mom to say she was staying at Steve's, knowing Karen would like to hear her daughter's voice after finding out a fellow classmate of hers was dead. She promised the woman that she was safe and that she would have Steve lock the doors before they went to sleep.

Steve did in fact lock the doors, but only he ended up falling into a shitty sleep. Carla simply laid there, almost afraid to sleep. She was scared that if she closed her eyes, she would wake up into another nightmare. That she'd see someone else die the same way she watched Chrissy die.

God, she'd seen Chrissy die. Not in the same way Eddie did, but she'd run around the house with the Cunningham. She'd stayed frozen while the girl panicked, while—who she can only assume to be— Vecna put his hand up and killed her.

The guilt gnawed at Carla as she laid in silence. When she closed her eyes, the images of Chrissy's terrified face came to the front of her mind. The way she screamed for help, the helplessness in her eyes, the fear evident in her whimpers.

And Carla had just stood there, paralyzed with fear. Who did that? That wasn't who Carla was. She helped everyone—she tried to help everyone. Yet she didn't even attempt to try and stop what happened. She just stood there and watched it happen.

The Wheeler girl always thought it was right that she survived, but thinking about Chrissy.....she couldn't help but wish she hadn't. Ever since that night in '83, she'd been connected to the Upside Down. And every year it failed to retrieve her, it came back stronger and more prepared.

Every year on its way to get Carla, it ended up taking out helpless people. Bob, Barb, the Holloway's, Hopper, even Billy. None of them deserved the fate that they met at the hands of the Upside Down creatures. Chrissy was no exception.

But, if she died last year like she was supposed to, maybe Vecna wouldn't have felt the urge to return. Maybe he would have stayed satisfied and kept her friends from reliving the same nightmare again; kept Eddie from becoming so traumatized he trembles; kept Chrissy from dying

Why did her friends stick with her? She was clearly just drawing the creatures back every year.  Why did Steve stay with her? All she did was cause him pain with the shit decisions she made in regard to her personal well being. He could be living a normal life but he decided to settle down with her, keeping her problems and attraction to other-worldly creatures in his life.

"Okay, we're here." Steve's voice takes Carla from her thoughts. The engine comes to a halt and she looks outside, recalling Reefer Rick's home from the previous nice. It was more put together in the day time.

Before returning to Eddie, the group decided to further show their want to help by purchasing food from the local grocery store—besides, it wasn't like the Munson could truly restock on food and drinks by himself without getting thrown in a jail cell.
