ELOISE did a front handspring on the field in front of the rest of the cheer squad. she didn't really enjoy cheer, but damn, she was good at it. the game was going really well, auradon prep was doing well, and it was carlos and jay's first real tourney game. once she landed, she skipped over to stand next to audrey, who whispered to her.
"i still don't trust the vk's. especially mal. she's always acting so odd around ben."
"maybe she's just nervous to be around someone with so much power because of his status?"
"her mother is maleficent. i don't think a soon-to-be-king would make her nervous because of his power. also, the vk's are budding into everything. there's two on the tourney team now, it's a surprise one hasn't infiltrated the cheer squad."
"auds, they're really nice! all of them! have they been rude to you?"
"well- no, but- they're the children of villains! ever heard the saying 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree'?"
"yes, of course i have, but they're not like that. now, lets focus because ben just scored the winning point." eloise smiled coyly, cutting the useless banter short and cheering loudly. everyone cheered at the incredible play by carlos, jay and ben.
"prince ben has won it! what an unselfish play by jay! what a team! incredible! and it's the new guys, jay and carlos, who set up the prince for the winner! what a victory! an absolutely wonderful end to one of the best games ever! here they come, folks. the winners of the first-" the announcer is cut off by ben grabbing his microphone.
"excuse me! excuse me! can i have your attention please?" he pauses, stepping up onto the dragon ball shooter. "there's something i'd like to say!" everyone looks around in confusion and anticipation at his words. "give me an 'm'!" he shouts. everyone chants the letter, making an m with their arms. audrey and eloise look at each other in excitement of his words. "give me an 'a'!" everyone repeats his action. "give me an 'l'!" all of the game's attendees repeat him again. "what does that spell?!"
"mal!!!!" everyone yells, and audrey looks around in confusion. why was her boyfriend making them chant another girl's name?
"come on, i can't hear you!"
"mal!!!"
"i love you, mal! did i mention that?" everyone cheers and turns to look at mal, including eloise who looked like a mix of all the emotions, happy for her new friend, happy for ben and sad and concerned for audrey. audrey whimpers in humiliation and sadness, running off of the field. eloise tries to stop her, but fails. "give me a beat!"
"uno, dos, tres, quadro!!" doug starts, the marching band making a catchy beat.
"did i mention that i'm in love with you, and did i mention, there's nothing i can do, and did i happen to say, i dream of you everyday, so let me shout it out loud, if that's okay, yeah! if that's okay." ben starts singing, and everyone sings along. eloise tries to fight the urge to sing for audrey's sake, but ultimately gives up and sings along.
"i met this girl who rocked my world like it's never been rocked, and now i'm living just for her and i won't ever stop, i never thought that it could happen to a guy like me, but now look at what you've done, you got me down on my knees. because my love for you is ridiculous! i never knew (who knew!) that it could be like this, my love for you is ridiculous! my love is r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s (r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s)! it's (ridiculous), just (ridiculous)! and i would give my kingdom for just one kiss!"
after the song finished and ben had been somehow launched into the stands next to mal, he went in for a kiss, and she yelped and covered her face with a nervous laugh. eloise giggled at the situation. he wraps his arm around her shoulder.
"i love you mal, did i mention that?"
"chad's my boyfriend now! and i'm going to the coronation with him. so i don't need your pity date." audrey cuts in, stealing ben's microphone then kissing chad. eloise was surprised, but at least audrey wasn't too upset over mal stealing ben's heart, right? ben steals the microphone back.
"mal! will you go to the coronation with me?"
"yes!"
"she said yes!!" ben shouts excitedly. everyone cheers for them. jay goes up to them, whisking ben away to go celebrate with the team. jay won mvp, which had eloise so excited to see her friends fitting in and getting recognized for their talents.
