Life has been good. A little too good if one might say. I've spent nearly every day with Macey, outside of workouts. Her and I have had several conversations about our friendship. I think we're both a little confused. I don't want to create a bad look on my end and she doesn't want to crush Adam. Honestly by the way he's been treating her, he needs it. He's been non stop calling her and belittling her. As far as I know, I'm the only one she's opened up to about it. As hard as it is for her, I'm glad she chose to tell me.
Scrolling through my Instagram, I fall upon the women's soccer team account. They posted a meet the team for Macey. I just stare at the photo of her that's somehow not blurry as she's juggling the ball. Macey Stark in bold letter across the top of the photo, Plano, Texas as her birthplace, and her age and grade. I swipe to the left and a video of her kicking a goal plays with some copyright free rap song as the background music. She's jumping up and down cheering as she runs towards the camera with her tongue out. Her heart is full of passion for soccer. It's all she's done and all she wants to do, all day, 24/7.
"Hey Kate, do you know anything about organic chemistry?" Jada asks me as she walks down the hallway, computer in her hand. I look up from my phone. "Pfft, no." I roll my eyes. She sets her laptop down on the countertop and happens to look over as I'm messing with my Apple Watch. "Whatchu got there, Martin?" I look up confused, she snatches my phone. "Starin' at Mace I see?" Shit. I attempt to grab my phone back but she's too far away, "No, it was just on my Instagram feed." She nods in suspicion, "no yeah, for sure." She hands me my phone back. "What's up with her anyways?" I sigh, "What do you mean?" I ask.
"She's just acting weird. When we're hanging out she's always on her phone." Jada explains.
"Jada, this isn't my place to tell."
"Not fair, I just want the best for her. Please?" She groans.
"Fine. Adam has been a dick recently." She grabs her water bottle, "How so? I thought he was great?"
"Well, you know how he was questioning her whereabouts at Gabbie's?" She nods.
"I guess it hasn't gotten better and he's really controlling." She shakes her head in disappointment. "Which is fucking insane because she would never do such a thing, she deserves someone who doesn't doubt her." Jada proceeds to watch me talk about Macey. Referring to her as the closest thing to perfection, the biggest heart, so kind and sweet. No guy should treat her that way and Ian is a menace to even think about cheating on her. I stop myself before Jada starts to think we're more than just friends. She takes a long sip of her water and looks at me with suspicion. "Kate, don't think your slick." She bluntly says before walking off with her laptop. "Fuck." I mutter.

+++++Caitlin, Gabbie, Jada, and I all gathered around a table eating our favorite American foods. Cheeseburgers, french fries, house salads, soda, you name it. Life has been a wreck, due to Caitlin's rise in fame, she's been in and out for interviews, brand deals, photo shoots and more. Jada is so busy with school and so is Gabbie. A good night out with my best friends was needed for the soul; a good catch up. The waitress comes by with her iPad and we stop talking. "Is there anything else I can they you guys? Desserts, more drinks?" I look around the table to see if anyone wants anything. Before I say no, Caitlin speaks up. "Actually can I get a strawberry margarita?" she asks. "Yeah for sure, can I just see an ID?" She hands her ID, and I open up the drink menu, deciding tonight was a night to drink. "Yeah, actually can I just get a vodka cranberry please?" Maceys favorite. She presses a few buttons on the iPad before I hand over my ID.
