The next week in Iowa was great. Making so many relationships with coaches, athletes, and other students that were currently living in Iowa City. Dead week was next week as classes were starting the following week. It's safe to say my four new best friends have become my workout buddies. Hanging outside of workouts and keeping in touch all the time. Since the sororities and fraternities were now in full swing, there were a few functions in the production that have been the big talk recently. Unsure on if I was planning on going until the group chat was booming with questions on if I was joining them; almost obligating me to go with them.+++++

boo okay🥲So that's how I got forced into going to a frat function against my will. I've never been the one to go unless it was themed, which was a rare occasion at Miami, it was really just an excuse for everyone to get drunk and dress skimpy. I had a good amount of party clothes though, not sure of how conservative Iowa City was, but I was up for the challenge, as long as my girls were beside me.
Although I was still underage, I had my fair share with alcohol experience. It's sad to say, my Miami friends used to push me past my limit, leaving me at my dorm with no one to comfort me when I would be violently throwing up. I just had to push through the hangover, since all they wanted to do was party every night of the week.
The theme of the function was tropical. I got lucky with this theme as Miami had plenty of options of clothing items that fell into the hawaiian, tropical, summer aesthetic. A flowery bikini and jean shorts would do just fine at a hot and sweaty frat. I put my naturally brown hair into two flowy braids, letting my hair reach just below my bikini top. Pairing the outfit with my white converse, my designated frat shoes, just before my friends knocked on my door.
Opening the door with a big welcoming smile on my face, bringing each and everyone of them in for a hug. Showing them around my fairly new apartment left them in awe, taking a look at all the photos I had of me and Caroline, my brother and I, and items from home I had spread throughout my space. As I'm bunching out the braids on either side of my head, I catch Jada admiring me through the mirror. "Ugh," she begins and runs up behind me and hugs me, "I just can't get over how cute you look." I start blushing, hugging her back. "Isn't she the cutest?" Jada asks the rest of the girls. "So adorable." Gabbie starts. "Yeah, so precious." Follows Caitlin. I turn to face the rest of them and Kate has her hands in her pockets. One side of her hawaiian patterned shirt is tucked into her pants and her hair is down and straight. I never realized how elegant she looked. So clean and pristine no matter the circumstance. She and I start blushing as we realize the weird tension between us, a tension never felt before. She clears her throat, "Gorgeous, Mace." The tension leaves as soon as words came out of her mouth. "Guys stop, that's enough." I exclaim, waving off their compliments, they laugh as I've just pretended to be a celebrity. "Hey, it's 8:30, do you wanna order an Uber?" Jada breaks me out of my train of thought. "Oh shit, yeah." I voice out, heading over to the counter to grab my phone to do so.
