In the Kingdom of Auradon, where Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses alike lived. There lived a person who was not of royal descent.
"So, explain it to me why I'm going with you one more time?" Kali askes with a bored tone, as she gets up out of her queen-sized bed and floats to her bathroom .
Ben, her best friend and soon to be King laughs at his best friends antics. Kali isn't a morning person. By any means. Unless there's food involved, which is the only reason she's even up.
"Mom and Dad asked me to come get you. They wanted to you to come get fitted for your suit as well while I get mine done." Kali groaned as she splashed cold water in her face, washing the sleep out of her eyes. "As much as I love Mama Belle and papa Beast, it's too damn early." She complained. It was barely cracking eight in the morning and Ben was up like it was ten.
Polar opposites they were.
Kali closed the door to her private bathroom and turned the shower on, letting the water get hot.
"Why don't you like the morning?"
"Same reason you don't like the nighttime. I work better when the suns down." With that, the door opens, and Kali is now showered and changed. Her outfit consists of a white linen short sleeve button up with the last buttons undone, and black jeans with white shoes. She walks back into the bathroom and snaps her fingers to dry her hair, but lets her pitch-black curls stay. Her fingers adorned with a few gold rings and a gold necklace laying on her caramel-colored skin.
"It's always so cool when you do that." Ben says in awe like a kid in a candy store making Kali chuckle. Magic isn't as common as it used to be in Auradon. Most people just being mere mortals.
"C'mon Benny-boo. We've got places to be." She teases the slightly younger boy who rolls his eyes at the nickname.
"Please, don't call me that." Ben pleads with her, but Kali has a amused smile on her face.
"Too late. Your girlfriend started it, and I'll continue it."
As she finished getting ready, Kali noticed Ben was more quiet than usual, which was odd given that she was more so the quiet one of the duo.
"You're quiet. Something on your mind?" Her voice laced with curiosity and concern for her best friend. The prince looked up at his best friend, his mind debating if he should tell her or not.
"Yeah....I just......"
"You had another vision, didn't you?" Her eyes glanced over to him while Ben looked to be in his own world. "Now let me guess, in the vision it was a girl and now you've caught feelings for said girl?"
Ben's face flushed red. "What! What would make you think that?!" Kali glanced next to him, giving him a 'really' look. "Is it really that obvious?"
"Painfully so, Benny-boo." Kali feigned sadness. "Anyway, wanna tell me what you saw? Wanna tell me who you saw?"
"I'll tell you at breakfast. It's......a lot." Kali nodded respecting his wishes. Ben and Kali had been friends since they learned how to talk. Her mother being absent since she was two years old and her father constantly traveling the world. Kali couldn't blame her father. He was trapped in a lamp for over ten-thousand years. Sometimes she wished she could've gone with him, but not everywhere he went was meant for her. Whenever he would go exploring, he would entrust Aladdin and Jasmine to watch over her, but even they had a kingdom to rule over. Hense the reason why she's at Auradon, but if it wasn't for that, she wouldn't have met her other half.
The two finally made it to the dining hall where they were to meet Ben's parents before both their fittings. Kali went to open the door, but Ben being the well raised gentlemen he is, opened the door for her as they both walked in. The two looked around for the King and Queen not seeing either, making the two look at each other.
"You think their running late?" Ben whispered to Kali who just shrugged in response to the future King. She took a moment looking around and only saw a few maids and servers in the room. "Must be Mrs. Potts kids." She thought to herself seeing the resembles to her, not being surprised knowing that she's seen a few of her kids before.
Ben sighed, disappointment shinning in his golden-brown eyes. Whatever he wanted to talk about must've been important. Kali could see it written on his face making her frown seeing him disappointed. "Well, we can start without them. They can catch up when they get here."
The two make their way to the Maple wood table in the middle of the room, Ben sitting at one end with Kali sat next to him, leaned back and arms crossed over her chest. Ben swallowed thicky as he fidgeted with his ring. "Promise you won't freak out?" Kali raised a brow at the question.
It never ended well when a person asked you to not freak out over what they had to say.
"Scouts honor." Kali dramatically placed a hand over her heart while holding up three fingers. "Now, tell me." She propped her elbows on the table, like a kid waiting for the best story to ever be told making the prince chuckle.
"I.......I saw kids from the Isle of the Lost in Auradon. Also, there was a girl....." He glanced at Kali's smug smirk. "She had these bright green eyes, and this smile. She was beautiful, and-"
"Alright, Lover boy. I think I get it. You're smitten over her, but here's the million-dollar question, what do you plan to do to get her over here?"
"For my first proclamation, I want to invite some of the kids from the Isle over here, give them a chance at a normal life. I want her to be one of them." Ben explains making Kali fly out of her seat as she hums.
"I like the vision. But do you know who here parent is?" She asks floating on her stomach.
"..."
"Anyone there?"
"She's the daughter of Maleficent."
"Huh?!" Kali askes as two duplicates of herself appear on either side of her body. "Wait, wait, wait. Isn't that the villain that put your girls mom into a never-ending sleep because of a spindle?"
"Yeah." He sighs.
Kali doesn't say anything for a few moments making Ben more nervous. Besides his parents, Kali's opinion mattered to him. She was his moral compass, guiding him on the right path when it came to if his decisions made sense or not. It was reasons on why they needed each other.
"Okay." She shrugged.
"Really? Are you sure?"
"I'm positive Ben. Besides, we both know I'm not one to really worry." She lays her head back on her arms. "Who are the other ones?"
"Cruella De Vil........Evil Queen...........and Jafar." Kali froze in place. Of course, her dad as well as her aunt and uncle had told her the story about Jafar, how he was reason behind them almost losing their lives and her aunt being forced to marry him. But she also knew how Jafar didn't have any powers without his snake staff, which was in the Museum of Cultural History. She didn't have any limits when it came to hers.
Kali took a deep breath; her deep brown eyes look into Ben's golden-brown ones. "Ben, I trust you on this. I know you'll do what you think is right." Ben smiled at his best friend not expecting her to agree with his decision, but glad that she did.
The only thing now, how the hell were they going to tell his parents?
