The soft glow of the late afternoon sun bathed Marissa's living room in a warm, golden hue. The curtains were pulled back just enough to let the light spill onto the sofa where Marissa and Daniel were nestled together.

With its elegant blend of classic Italian charm and modern touches, Marissa's Milan apartment exuded a quiet sophistication that made it the perfect sanctuary for their lazy afternoon. Marissa had always been good with following trends and the decorated apartment accounted for that, compared to her mother's house where she didn't like the idea of too much change.

Marissa rested her head on Daniel's shoulder, their hand intertwined as they watched the tv episode end. The weight of her body pressed against his felt comforting to Daniel, as he'd always told Marissa it had. Daniel, his arm wrapped securely around her comforted her in return.

"Do you think it will be a boy or a girl?" Marissa asked softly, her voice filled with the kind of wonder.

Daniel smiled, feeling a thrill of excitement in his chest. The idea of becoming a father was still so new, and it gave him the imagination of what having a kid would be like even now.

"I don't know," he said, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. "But I don't think it matters but I think I'd like a boy...who's like you," he added with a chuckle.

Marissa laughed, a sound so pure and genuine that Daniel couldn't help but join in.

"Like, huh?I think I can imagine more of one like you. A little troublemaker running around, getting into everything and trying to make people laugh... just like their dad."

"Hey!" Daniel protested playfully. "I'm not that bad but I'd prefer a little you, who loves to boss people around, never lets anyone tell them what to do and with a heart too big for their own good."

Marissa tilted her head back to look at him, her eyes sparkling. The pink hair she hosted had a shine from the sun outside, something Daniel was so used to seeing.

They fell into a comfortable silence, the kind that only comes with deep intimacy. Marissa shifted slightly, so she could see Daniel's face better.

"Daniel, have you thought about where we'll live? I mean, I know we've half-heartedly talked about it...Italy and all but I don't want you to feel like I'm forcing you out of Monaco or Australia," Marissa explained, gripping his hand tighter.

"I know Milan has been your home for so long, and I don't have any strong connection to Monaco, other than financial Mar. I'd like to raise them here, somewhere in Emilia-Romagna?" Daniel sugguestioned.

Marissa's eyes widened slightly in surprise, but she didn't miss the warmth in his suggestion. Then she realised.

"Have you been talking to my mother?"

"Maybe."

"Then you'll know I love it there," Marissa replied sheepishly. The countryside, the food, I was raised so close to there and I never hated it... It's perfect for raising a family."

"I thought so too," Daniel said, his voice taking on a soft, earnest tone. "We could find a villa, something with enough space for...more than one?"

"You're all for cryptic messages today," Marissa hummed with a chuckle. "I'm all for two kids, anything more is a later conversation."

"I'll take that," Daniel teased. "My parents threatened me to make sure you were happy, you know?"

"I love your parents," Marissa admitted with a smile. "I remember being so terrified they wouldn't like me but then they wouldn't let me leave without making sure you were looking after me. They told me how much you loved me and that's when

Daniel's heart skipped a beat as he looked at her, the love he felt for her never fading for a moment. This was the moment he'd been waiting for, the one he'd rehearsed a thousand times in his mind but never quite felt ready for since Marissa was always on the go, making it so much harder.

"Marissa," He called, "Do you want to go for a walk?"

She looked up at him, curious, a small smile playing on her lips. She nodded.

Marissa followed him as they made their way out of the apartment and down the streets of Milan. The city was alive with its usual energy, but Daniel's focus was solely on her, on the moment they were about to share. They walked hand in hand to a nearby park, only having to stop once or twice. The leaves rustled softly in the breeze, and the late afternoon light filtered through the trees, casting a serene glow over the scene. Daniel led Marissa to a secluded spot, glad it wasn't too busy since the majority of people were at work or school.

"Daniel," Marissa began, sensing the shift in his demeanour, "Are you alright?"

He turned to face her, taking both her hands in his. He didn't speak Italian often when it was just him and Marissa but this time, he did. It fluently feel from his mouth and no one would have known he was raised in Austraila.

"Marissa, I can't imagine a future without you and I've tried so many times for the right moment for this," said Daniel. "I love you and I want to live in Italy with you, even if you boss me around and have a little you running around. I mean, you've put up with me for this long, haven't you?"

Marissa's breath caught in her throat as Daniel dropped to one knee, pulling a small velvet box from his pocket. The world seemed to pause as he opened it, revealing a simple, elegant ring that glinted in the fading sunlight.

"Marissa, will you marry me?"

The words hung in the air between them, heavy with emotion. Tears welled up in Marissa's eyes as she looked down at him, finally glad he'd asked.

"Yes," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "It's about time."

Daniel's heart soared as he slipped the ring onto her finger, not a single doubt in his mind.He stood up, pulling her into his arms as the tears she'd been holding back spilled over. All the build up emotion of wanting this to happen. After a moment, Daniel pulled back slightly, brushing a tear from her cheek with his thumb.

"You know," Daniel teased, "I would have cried if you'd said no."

Marissa laughed through her tears, swatting his chest lightly.

"You would have cried?"

"Like a baby," Daniel confessed with a grin. "But lucky for me, you didn't."

"Lucky for both of us," Marissa murmured.

With a sweet smile, she pressed a kiss to his lips.
