Age 762, Earth

Guru

His end was nearing once again. He could feel it within his spirit. Though this time, it was through desired circumstances, and not the overwhelming grief of losing his children. These precious, extra moments he got to spend with them all would be cherished. But as all journeys do, his is coming to a close.

He'd already selected Moori to lead his brothers in this new era of their lives as the next Grand Elder. His family would flourish again in a new world even without him. He could not be more proud of them. He enjoyed these peaceful months on Earth, answering every question and worry his children had while he could. They all gathered together to see him off. It was a beautiful, clear day, and loved ones and friends surrounded him.

A wonderful day to die.

Though one child seemed more lost than the others. His youngest, Kyuri. He could sense that his son grew more restless as time went on. His imminent passing weighed heavily on him. He'd already witnessed his death before, a heartache he never wanted his child to bear more than once. Their experience left Kyuri with many wounds on his young heart Guru feared may never truly heal, but in these last moments, he would do what he could.

"My youngest," He called, the respectful child readily rushing to his side. "Tell me what troubles you."

There was a flicker of shock on his teary face before he turned away, wiping his eyes. "N-Nothing's bothering me, Grand Elder! I'll be fine. You shouldn't worry about me when you're—"

"As your father, I will always worry for you." Gently reaching out, he picked up the tiny Namekian and placed him on his lap, much to the youth's surprise. "There's no need to hide anything from me, today most of all. Whatever weighs on your mind, I wish to listen while I'm here and able."

Kyuri, understandably, went silent for a moment. Patiently, Guru waited for his smallest son to gather all of his thoughts. He could see the turmoil in his eyes as he debated what to say, gazing at his brothers before finally revealing his troubled thoughts.

"We were so helpless." Kyuri began, rare and potent rage drenching his whispers. "Everyone was dying, and we could do nothing. I could do nothing. But all of this cheerfulness in going to a new home... it's like everyone forgot about what happened! Even though I meditated and tried to block the thoughts away, it kept bothering me."

The child looks up at his father, forlorn, "Am I the only one that is not okay?"

Kyuri curled himself into Guru's side, crying angry tears. "I could only hide and wait for my turn to die. I hated being so weak. And even though Chu saved us, and I am forever grateful... I hate that she had to!"

At his admittance, everyone fell silent. Not wanting to burden anyone with their emotions, they kept to themselves and enjoyed the peace they'd regained. They hadn't even thought about how everything happening was affecting their youngest, too overwhelmed by it all to notice his unusual distance from them all.

"Oh, Kyuri..." Since everything happened the child kept all of these emotions in check, simply happy to be away from that nightmare. But as the realization that they were safe sunk in, those buried emotions surfaced. Nightmares, panic, a sense of wrongness, he felt like the only one dwelling on what they'd survived. He felt alone.

Guru gently patted his son's back as he wailed, the child no bigger than the palm of his hand. Kyuri continued, "I don't want a new home, I want to be stronger. Chu knows less about things than I do, but she's so strong in a way I could never be. How do I become strong like that, Grand Elder?"

"Everyone has a different road to strength, my son. I can't tell you how to walk yours, but..." The Elder lifted Kyuri in the palm of his hand, and with his other, he covered him. Kyuri was covered in warm, white light. This would be his last act before he said farewell. The last gift he could bestow on his youngest child.
