For the last few weeks of his search for immortality, Frieza had been met with a series of annoying hurdles. On one hand, it was an annoying bunch of miscreants trying to foil his plans. His subordinates could handle those for a while, but soon they began to fail.
Every report came back with less and less men.
It was confusing, infuriating, and blasphemous. He didn't believe that these disposable soldiers would be so weak, but apparently, that was the case. He had to call in the ridiculous, but reliable, Ginyu Force to handle it. While they were eccentric (embarrassing) they were few of the most capable men serving him. They'd be here soon to deal with this nuisance.
But... that didn't solve the other problem he had. He was shocked that it wasn't caused by the same people. Some of the teams he sent out to a particular part of the world... never reported back. Even some stronger individuals he'd considered promoting never returned. It was in a different part of the world, away from the known problems.
So who was causing this? Don't get him wrong, he had no tolerance for their appalling showing of weakness. At first, he ignored that they died mysteriously, alluding it to a few decently strong Namekians. Compared to him, they were ants, but he understood it wouldn't be the same for other ants facing them.
That was before some of the few missing reached out directly to him. It was a heinous breach of conduct, an outrage to him. But when he realized it was a scout from one of the missing teams, all too curious, he humored and answered.
"P-Please, save us, Lord Frieza! We're being hunted! That thing... it's not a Namekian! A monster, it's a monste- No... No no no! Stay awa-AHHHHHCK—"
-BOOM!
Then, silence. A horrible, ominous silence is all he hears. But that was followed by a child's giggle. It seemed that whoever was on the other side of this call had picked up the scouter his soldier left behind.
"Weak."
And then the connection completely cut.
"What the hell did I just hear?" Frieza had no idea why he felt goosebumps crawl over his body. He did not understand why everything in him seized at the voice he'd just heard. It was a brat. Nothing he should be bothered by. Yet he was, greatly so. He felt a foreign emotion begging him to get as far from that voice as possible.
Frieza, of course, ignored his passing thoughts that something truly needed his attention. He dismissed his impulse to simply get off-world and abandon everything. He'd searched too long for a way to immortality, and he wasn't going to give up on it because of a childish "bad feeling".
He would have no idea how much of a terrible decision that was until it was too late.

Chu was disappointed. So very disappointed. No bully she'd met was strong enough to play her game. Sure, they fed her ki well enough. It was steadily replenishing. But it was so slow! So agonizingly slow.
She was initially happy that they encountered so many meanies on their way to Kyuri's papa, Guru. Just like the one she'd met in Kyuri's village, they called her names and didn't take her seriously. It made her upset again, and she wanted to pummel them into the ground.
But then, she got a glorious idea.
When she and Buu used to wreak havoc, she got bored of plowing through them. So, she'd play a game. If they could hide from her, flee from her, or fight her long enough for her to satisfy her boredom, then they'd win. To her, it seemed simple. She wasn't like Buu, who liked to fight for long periods. She'd rather nap.
